Just doing some mods and wonder if anyone has installed a 174" track in their sled? I have an '03 mountain, and just trying to figure out what rails or rail mods to use. Some guys have extended the factory ones from the original , I think was a 151" track, no? Anyway, another idea presented was a newer Nytro suspension, because it's lighter (I'm told) and extending those rails, but then the rear brackets are quite different.
Any input appreciated..

I have a 141 M7 skid out to 162 with no issues. I would think a 153" or 162" M7 skid out to 174 shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I just put a Nytro MTX skid under a 97 mountain max. It looks cool but, the nytro guys are almost giving the skids away. I have another one lined up for $100. They all seem to be upgrading the rear skid. I guess the shocks on the skid are lackluster at best.

I just put a 174 x16 x3"pitch in my 04 RX-1M about 2 weeks ago. I am using a 162" M7 skid that is set back 1" from the stock location. It fits perfectly. Only issue I have is the track sticks out past the tunnel. Last time I looked no one makes a 174" tunnel ext for the RX.
The 162" M7 skid is around 50-55#s which is about 20 #'s lighter than the stock skid.

Jonny, are you normally aspirated and if not how does the RX-1 pull that big track?

I have a turbo. I have seen some naturally aspirated sleds turn the 162 pretty well and feel they would also turn the 174. Might have to gear down a little to get some track speed but it would work.

I got mine in and it fits very nice, rails extended, and it looks great!
I notice too, the track is out a little, so will have to make a little brace or bend at the flap mount to keep it bent out, but that's the only odd issue. I know of guys here running stock engines with this size track, and no problems.
