Does anybody know what the weight of just the engine of the RX-1 is. If list a weight please list what that includes..ie. carbs, oil pan, pump etc.

It weighs apparately as much if not a little lighter than the srx engine just the motor alone thats what I heard from a yamaha rep!

weight of rx1 engine
I've got my engine out to put in 10:1 wiseco pistons so I put it on my scale. Itweighs 120 lbs. with the carbs, starter, and clutch. The carbs were 7 lbs. and the clutch was 8 lbs., so that makes it 105 lbs., Ken.

How does this compare to competitive 800cc 2 stroke designs. This dosn't seem like a huge weight penlty.

I know the 800 polaris motor weighs 82lbs. So it is about 25lbs more. That's not as bad as I thought. I talked to a guy today that said Yamaha told him 142lbs for the motor? Not sure what that includes, but I trusts Kens info more.
