Heard lots of discussion early on regarding racing different big iron stuff - just curious if any Mach Z have been run or ZR's. I have a friend with a ZR9 and we are planning a race day - my RTX has 600 miles and clutched and 144 1.325" studs. Should be interesting.

our rivers are not froze yet so all racing has been on grain fields.my apex er is stock and not yet studded.I have raced an 03,04,05,and 06 zr 900 and an 04 800 rev.the field is only about 800 ft.the ski-doo was 8-10 lengths back.the 900s are competitve but if I got traction I would win and i know I got more top end.yamaha's like cold crisp conditions which we have not had yet.when I do stud I am going with 144 1.343 roetins down the middle.I think your studs are too short for any kind of hookup.good luck!

I have raced a 05 mach z.I think I take him most of the time its a friend of mine.He still agrees its a hand off I win once and he wins once. They are both clutched a his has studs I do not. Also both with about the same miles on both 250.

My 4 friends have 2 05 Machzs, and 2 800 HO Renagades. I had about 200 miles on my Apex, and raced them. I beat the Gades badly, had the stock Z by 4 lengths to a hundred. The other Z had a clutch kit, and well tuned. He jumped me by a length, and I stayed at his rear bumper to over a hundred.

What I don't understand is why me and others can beat them, and I've talked to other riders with Zs and Apexs in there group, and the Zs are faster. The Mach owners scoff at the idea of an Apex running with them.

Mach owners dont want to admit a 4 stroke is running right with them.Imagine if we had 20 more hp.All they would see is tail lts. Then stop to put more plugs in them.

Some people know how to tune there Machs better than others... Lots of F7 owners have beaten the mach z too.. (but then again F7s never loose a race) LOL

It all comes down to tuning and conditions.. On hard pack it could be anyones win.. On slush or soft snow the apex can be beat..

I am seeing some issues especially on the 06 and the non-updated 05's (out of the box) that fuel maps are not the same as the mid release fuel maps on the 05's and that is probably why you are seeing some Machs are fast and some are not. Most of the 06's are probably off by 10 mph on the top end. DOO has screwed up again and have really pissed off alot of guys that bought the new iron. Irregardless, tuning and clutching do have a part of it in any gaive race. That being said, I still believe a well tuned Apex will run with a well tuned Mach up to a 100, but after that, the Mach should pull away hard.
