Been looking at the ohlins rear shock for my nytro mtx and was wandering if anyone has tried it yet?? The stock shock bottoms so easy!! I dont really want to drop alot of coin on the timber skid etc. plus they dont have any ready until Jan-Feb..

yamaha scandinavia decided to sell the nytro mtx with the öhlins shock in the back.
i got nothing to compare to,so i can't tell you the difference, but it's a safe bet that it's an improvment.(sorry for my bad english, did that make any sence?)

ok,no problem.
it's probably some sort of very small compensation for the crazy overprice they have here in scandinavia, that they decided to "give" us the öhlins in the skid.
i paid, translated in to $: over $19500 for a pretty much stock nytro mtx.....INSANE,but to much fun to miss. :-o

My dealer here has a handful in stock.. I compared the two by just sitting on them etc. It does feel better than the stocker,, but he hasnt tried it in the mountains yet.. Price seems good around $350 might just have to go with it for this year instead of the Timber set-up..

i know a few guys who's been putting in apex mountain springs in the back, maybe that helps to.

Do you bottom your rear suspension out on the rough trails etc ?? Im about 200 lbs. in riding gear and have the springs set to the stiffest and set the transfer rod to the max and it still bottomed out easy..

The Nytro torsion springs are 1500 nm, apex springs are 1700nm, and heavy apex springs are 2100 nm. The heavy apex springs and Ohlins shock will be the ticket.

Rode the first 70 kilometers with the stock shock. Put on some 100 km yesterday after changing to Öhlin (free from dealer). Big improvement but with extra gas and gear I think Nikolai is right on – the heavy Apex spring is a must. BTW you guys in Scandinavia get the Nitro cheap – here in Iceland we have to pay $22000 – and it’s sold out for the season!!

OT:
A used Apex MTN is more expensive in Sweden than a new one i US
An example
Apex MTN -06
2000miles
aprox 15000 US$
(A new one cost aprox 23650 US$ (ready to ride, all taxes included))

:-o

I put the Ohlins shock in my MCX MTX before it even left the shop. Night and day. I do have a Timbersled setup coming but didn't want to have to put up with the hyperactive transfer that the stock shock is too soft to deal with. Pretty good for $350 when you consider the Skidoo guys spend that on belts for a weekend, LOL
