08 Apex ltx Gt with 3000 miles and the front end is worn out. I ordered the Oilight bushings, but I need new bolts (they will have to be cut out)
The Yamaha bolts are over $200 and only lasted a short period.
Are there any stronger bolts out there?
Do they make them weak to protect the bulk head?
Can I just buy generic bolts?
Any one know the strength and size?
Will the a-arms straighten out to tighten up the new bushings?
Any help or info is appreciated!

What bolts did you have to cut out and why? The bolts that attach your a-arms to the bulkhead?

Stock ones are crap, i changed mine over last year to high stensile ones.
Not sure on the size but i did have to bash the old ones out with a mallet.
Ive now going to be using a timbersled front end so no more problems.

Where did you get the stronger ones?
do you think the weak ones are ment to save the bulk head?

got them from a bolt shop back in Australia. A hardware store here should sell them you just need to find out the size.
They have nothing to do with the bulkhead as mine bent and still broke my mine

Best thing to do is put the steel plate mod on your bulkhead to protect it from the alloy snapping. Theres a few guy on here that have done the mod me included.

i would just order the yamaha ones, go to port yamaha and order them and save a little, i wouls also go ahead and order the new nuts for the bulkhead bolts if your going to put the bushings in

I bought a leftover 08 GT at the end of January and before I even rode it I both "A" Arms off it and greased every joint thorougly. I have noticed on my past Yammi's that the factory only applies a minimal amount of grease to most joints. This sled was no different. Every joint in the front end was dry. Maybe Yammi designs it this way.

Apex A arm bolts
I just went through this myself.....Sawzz-alled out the bolts. Lower A arm bolt should be about $8 from Yamaha.. keep in mind before changing to a different grade bolt that these are most likely engineered to be the first part to bend.

I really don't think that the spindle bolts bending would have any effect on the bulkhead braking or not. Its a different part and the bulkhead bolts are big, those ones are not going to brake in a hurry.

Did you guys who had to cut out the bolts hit stuff or was that from normal riding? My Apex has 5000 miles on it and a-arm/spindle bolts pull right out, bushing seem tight as well.
I haven't removed the a-arm/bulkhead bolts yet but those bushings seem to be where the slop is coming from.

mine bent on the right side from a lateral hit that took out both a arms (under 10 mph, dont hit em from the side) and the left side they were just bent, they did serve there purpose though, bulkheads were ok
