Hey guys, how much back lash should there be in secondary? This is the first 4-stroke I've had as well as the first sled I've had with reverse. Seems pretty excessive... I can can move the secondary back and forth a LOT compared to my SRX.
I also notice when going from fwd to rev or rev to fwd I have to be very, very easy on it to take the slack out or I get a hard thump. I've also noticed this sometimes when I coast to a stop... it seems like I need to take it really easy to take the slack out. Is this normal or is someting out of adjustment? Sled only has 100 miles on it. Any help would be great!
Thanks,
Bigmax

Here's video of mine.

Apparently thats normal..the play is in the 2 lower gears, in the way they mesh to each other.

I have a Apex mnt with a 100 miles on it.
On my 1st ride I notice more chain case whine when letting off the throttle then my RX1 had. Next day before my 2nd time out with my new sled I loosened up the chain case adjuster lock nut and very easily hand tightened the adjuster bolt in 3 or 4 turns. This took up some chain slack and took care of the chain case whine I was hearing. Why don't you take 10 minutes and check your chain adjustment.
Remember screw it in hand tight only.

My Apex was about a turn loose. Tighten it finger tight then back it off 1/4 turn.

NewCastle... I'd love to check it... but it's 300 mile away and I haven't seen it in about a month. And with the way this winter is going, when I do see it I want it to be ready to go!
So once it's adjusted correctly, will that eliminate any harsh engagement? I feel like I have to really baby this thing when taking off to keep it from slamming and causing damage. Especially when when I change directions. Thanks guys!
