Any dealers have these in stock? I ordered one through my local dealer about six weeks ago, but it hasn't come in and he doesn't know when (or if) it will come in. Here's Yamha's part number: SMA-8FPHB-CV-BK.

Will that fit properly onto the handlebar of my attak, if so I want one also. I do not like the pad that came with the sled, pretty plain if you ask me ;)!

Just take that crappy stock one off and leave the bar bare. I think it looks fine that way, kinda burly looking ;)!

This might be old news for you guys in the US, but here in Sweden the RTX at first came with a optional plain grey, real ugly, handlepar bad.

This is the new one (for us, at least); it's a cellphone photo, so quality isn't very good. It does not block the gauges in any way, and I like the way it looks. Didn't fit perfectly though, had to trim off some of the foam to make it smug to the top of the bolts.

You can also see the windshield bag. Should be great for the cellphone and wallet.

I just recived mine last week after being on back order for over seven weeks, and it does look great but it will block the lower halve of the gauge cluster when you are sitting. All you need to do is lean fowards to see the complete cluster. I am 6` tall so you shorter riders will not like it.

I like the look of the pad on the GT and RTX. I was in the dealer on Friday and they had the RX-1 handlebar "deluxe" cover on one of the 06s and I did not like it. It did look as tho it would interfere with the view of the guages. Didn't think to snap any pics.

GOt one with my new sled, hides the wires and good storage for reg and club papers+ wallet-will sacrifice small amout that gauge cannot be seen. You should have your eyes on the trail!!!

I reworked an RX-1 pad from last year by tucking a small 1/2" flap inside it on each end. The apex bars are about 1 inch narrower. As for seeing the gauges, I made a new foam which was very thin on the front side. I can see the gauges better but not perfectly.

bar pad

I put one of the pads on like WFO mentioned, and am a shorter person and can verify it does block the view of the gauges-seated I can see 6K rpm on the tach and above. Figure I'll try it and can always put that original back on if it gets to be annoying.

Yamaha may want to rework the design for this optonal pad-less foam in some areas and make it fit better. Also, the lower end of the zippers on either side rest on the chrome-plated collar.

Aftermarket handlebar pad coming soon

I have been in contact with a company who is in the process of making a handlebar pad/cover that will not block much of the view to the gauges (I was told 98% viewable with the pad in place) and it doesn't go down all the way to the chrome plastic collar. They will have them with or w/o a storage pocket.

When I find out more, I'll update.
