APEX ATTAK OWNER ON NEW XTX POINT OF VIEW

well is sold my attak and bought a new 2009 xtx nytro. so far so good.
rides very well. great in the stutter bumps, much better weight transfer than the attack.its a better stand up bump sled than my attack. great seating posistion.really like the way it comes off road approaches and jumps. wont nose dive like my apex. comes down much softer.great in the trails and very good in the soft off trail conditions.good fuel economy( needs bigger tank) dislikes ? lack of any storage. lack of wind protection. very cheap substandard gauge compared to other brands, used to have the best gauge on the market with my attak now have the poorest gauge. solutions, have added belt holder to the belt cover and has opened up some storage in the front. added a handlebar bag .replaced stock skis with c&a razors and it rails now.
now have a mid hieght windshield with the side deflectors and has improved the wind protection.needs a bigger fuel tank but can be solved with a trail tank option. i had started a post re the gauge and it seems i can install an apex gauge to eliminate that problem.very noisy primary clutch.all in all very happy. it just seems that they could of resolved some of these issues before so that a customer dosent have to spend more money after buying the sled.

How many miles do you have on your Nytro??
How are the 200 mile rides compare to eachother??
I think the seat on the XTX is alot narrower. Is this uncomfortable on the long rides??

790 miles so far. 200 mile rides? farthest ive gone is 140 in 1 day. seat is narrower and i like it that way. very comfortable and easier to transistion from siting to standing.

I done many 200mile days, seats fine, but I do fine it gets soft and hot after a long ride

My longest one day ride on the XTX is 310 miles, then turned around the next day and rode back.

I am kicking around either selling my wife's '04 Renegade and buying the XTX or selling my Attak. My wife only rides once or twice a year. So I figure I could have the best of both worlds if I sell her Renagede.

So overall you like the Nytro. How much did the mid height winshield help. That is my biggest concern is the potential for a cold ride.
How does the sled ride in the stutters? Can you make 100 miles on one tank? I have USI X2's on my Attak. I really like those ski's. They made a world of difference on the Attak. Will probably put a set on the XTX.
How is the engagement. I heard it is kind of harsh. Speed and quickness. How do you you think the XTX compares to your Attak.
Oh. How are the hand warmers? Did they feel warmer after you installed the mid height windshield?

I had an 06 & 07 attak. Had an 08 nytro & now have an xtx. For my area I could never ever in a million years go back to an attak. The only upside to an attak is a few mph on top but the nytro just does so many things so well!!!! The only think the attak does well is hi speed cruisin on fairly strate smooth trails.

I have both , a sc apex 2007 and the xtx .
I love the apex for the engine , and the 200 hp sc.
Other than that the xtx is a better ride !
It takes a day or so to get used to the lower rpm engine , the gauge is ok , heat is ok , mid windshield covers the cold issues, I hate the clutch rattle ! Add trail tank , good to go!
The only thing I had to do was , set up of course , and added woody's duallys ! , fixed all the front end issues for me !
Next is the sc for the xtx !, when the apex sc rtx sells !!! $9500. usa
Apex feels like an outdated ride after the xtx !

LOVE THE XTX SO FAR. power is quite fine and i dont mind the small loss of top end. winshield works great and my hand warmers havent been an issue for myself. stutter bumps is where the sled shines. clutch engagement hasent been a problem . note ** i had a ulmer stage 2 kit in my apex so this is quite smooth in comparison.clutch rattle. i cured it.
i remove the pins holding the rollers in and pulled the bushings out. i filed them down flush to the sides of the clutch towers and added a small rubber o ring on each side. rattle is gone.fuel? 100 is about it. but as mentioned i will add the trail tank next year.

Took the plunge yesterday. Bought an '09 XTX blue. The Yamaha bucks are running out after the end of the month and then more again at the end of April. Pick the sled up Monday. Might try and squeez in a quick back woods ride in the UP of Mich. next weekend. Can't wait for next season.

I was able to get 120 miles on my first tank of gas riding in the U.P a week ago. I think 100 will be a safe bet unless your really haulin... 8

Well, I can get my XTX stuck with very little effort. Did so twice today. I think that makes 5 for the season....
