Apex - clutching/gearing for altitude -

Just bought an Apex GT. Naturally, the service manual is back-ordered. I have a trip planned for West Yellowstone later in January.

Anybody have advice on the appropriate changes for a week around West Yellowstone? I usually set machines up for 8000 ft and 20 degrees F.

Weights, rivets, springs?

OK, I was able to download the service manual from ebay for $8 instead of buying the paper manual for $60. Good deal, eh?

Looks like the only altitude recs are for about $4 worth of rivets, otherwise no spring, not even a hole or twist change on the secondary. I'm not gonna screw around with the gearing.

I'm gonna order some new stock weights and rivet 'em. For me, it's worth the $28 x 3 per 8FP00 clutch weight to avoid grinding out rivets a couple of times per year.

My only other concession to West Yellowstone is a set of Powderhound skis.
