'05 Vector ER -- I'm planning a trip out to West Yellowstone in January and I need to plan the jetting and clutching.

From the service manual, I note that it's pretty straightforward - bascially just a O-S-O primary spring and some different rivets, nothing to the stock secondary, and change the main jets from 148 stock to 145's. I'm not going to go to the trouble of changing the gearing.

My big question - how will the Ullmer stage 1 helix/spring work at 6000-8000 feet? Should I change back to stock for that trip?

BigMac, you should be able to just change the primary spring, but I would recommend going back to the stock helix rather than try to run our helix. Just not the power at 6-8000 feet to be able to pull it! I made the trek west last winter and didn't even bother changing the jetting.

Thanks for the info. After years of MJ/PJ/weights/springsx2 for those trips out west, I was amazed that a set of 145's and 148's is about the entire altitude range for the main jets.

You think the stock primary clutch weights oughta work OK at that altitude, huh?

BigMac, you may need to tighten the secondary spring to get the proper RPM, but it should work fine with the O-S-O primary spring and stock helix. I have O-S-O primary springs in stock for $15 shipped. If you're interested you can paypal me at srxspec@gwtc.net
