will an apex head fit on an rx engine? looking to do efi on an rx and already have a complete apex head laying about I could use if it fits.

There is NOTHING to be gained by going to EFI. Its perfectly worthless except that it makes it easier for someone inept to start. Also known to increase fuel consumption. If you want to gain performance, the CAMS are what you want -- if I'm not mistaken, the 06+ cams will fit in the 03-05, but PLEASE VERIFY first.

If you are going to be riding in a wide range of elevations, then the EFI would make a world of difference. With carbs, you are stuck with one jet size that should work OK for a varity of elevations but never will it work optimally. With EFI, your ECU or whatever will adjust the injectors to always achieve a near perfect A/F ratio.

I wouldn't say there is nothing to gain...

well, there are a host of reasons to go EFI, yes I do ride in varying elevations, I ride in temps ranging from -30 to 70deg, the sled is in the process of a custom mid mount turbo and going efi would give me the ability to adjust fuel and timing relative to boost at a fraction of the cost of stand alone systems to run with carbs, not to mention ease of adjustment for all parameters at a touch of a button.
but that aside the question remains, does an apex head bolt to on rx engine block?

I would talk to the Turbo guys for sure but I know on bikes FI is so much better than trying to mess with carbs for Turbo. There are alot of mods to be done to carbs to get them working right with a turbo where FI works pretty well.

head

I had asked this before and was told that the apex head will not bolt up to an rx block because somthing to do with the water jackets do not line up or something like that. Maybe give a call to one of the performance shops that are sponcers of TY and they can conferm if this is true or not.[/b]
