I was at the Toronto Snowmobile show and was asking the Yamaha Dealer how they solve the darting on the Apexes.
They said that the only carbide / runner that they have had major success with was Qualipeices carbides.

Just to confirm what they were telling me I phone another Yami Dealer and the guy at the parts counter has been running them for 3 years and loves them. He calls them snake heads as they look like a snake.
My question is, has anybody else tried them and what do you think.
The local Yami dealer has them in stock for $189.00 for the 6 inch carbides.

They look like ski savers built into the host bar. I'm trying Scott Bergstroms set up. Darting is best solved by shimming the skis properly IMO.
I've been running these carbides for two years and they solve everything. Fantastic. Makes the yami skies good. Also makes very light steering. Yami should have these on from factory. Would sell more sleds.

What exactly is the Yami dealer recommending? It is the dual carbide or the anti-darting plate?
That seems a little spendy to just get a set of carbides. Why not spend a few bucks more and get a set of Pilots, C&A, or Slydogs and then you don't have to deal with the stock skis at all. You can still shim if you have to. My stock Apex skis are shimmed and have the stock 3" carbides and don't really dart at all. IMO the stock skis still leave a lot to be desired.

i find it funny they show them on Pilot skis..
The pilots have very little darting because they already have dual carbides..

I have used these all last season, and they solve everything. When your first set of these is gone , just buy a regular carbide runner for your ski, and make that plate in front , and weld it on your runner. They are worth every penny. It is just like adding power steering.

I've used them for a season on my RTX and love them. I put them on before trying the sled, so I have never experienced the darting people are talking about.
Bought them from the yammi dealer. Can't remeber the price, but I ran Qualipieces on my cats and I will always buy them.

arcticf7ext, so you put them on new, and this still happened?!? I thought they helped your steering??? I remember your F7 didn't have any steering at all towards the end...

Just have regular doolies on my 06 RTX, with 55 psi in the floats. Hasn't darted yet...at all. Front end is great on this thing.

After comparing the price I decided that Pilot 5.7 skis with loops, carbides and mounting kit for $239 is a better value. They will certainly float better in the fresh snow.
