Building a collection one sled at a time
I really want to add an Apex to the stable this year but am unsure as to how the 2 sleds mentioned above really differ besides the obvious Ohlins on the GT.Is the ride any where near the same on the ER as the GT?I've only had the opportunity to try out a GT for a couple of miles and that was on a smooth trail with no real bumps to see how the rear skid works.I don't have much of a chance to try out the 2 sled variations back to back so I'm looking for views from those that have or those that own these 2 sleds.

I test rode an Apex ER against a GT before I bought. Noticeable difference IMHO. GT hands down.

OK so it looks like a GT is what I'll be wanting so my next question would be what have you guys changed with yours or what don't you like about it and what would you change if you could?

If you are anywhere near 250lbs get the 5.5 spring and have carver revalve all three shocks, and thats it for now.fourbarrel said:OK so it looks like a GT is what I'll be wanting so my next question would be what have you guys changed with yours or what don't you like about it and what would you change if you could?

Mid height accessory windshield. Original bugscreen looks cool and is colddddd.
I put in the tunnel support kit, just in case.
Diluted antifreeze to 50/50 and put in Water Wetter.
Gauntlets for the real cold days. Light windproof gloves for the rest of the time.
Update the center lower idler wheels.
Reroute the Ohlins shock wire or it will break pretty soon.

I put a pair o f Slydog Powderhounds on it, added a pair of Silverstars, a 13 mm sway bar, CR10EKs, and I dropped the upper gear by one tooth. The plugs and the gear thing made little difference...the skis, lights and sway bar were significant.
I did put a higher windshield on it, and I put a nose bag in.
The first thing you should do once you get it home, the VERY FIRST thing, is set the monoshock spring preload - shock travel of 40-45 mm weighted vs unweighted. Also, loosen up the front shock springs til they rattle (unweighted) then tighten about 1.5 turns.
