I rode my new Apex 75 miles in Old Forge NY yesterday and I was amazed at the handling and ride. It took all of the bumps 10 times better than my old XCR 800. The power was awesome. Really hard to keep from running it too hard during break in. I blew the 12v acc. fuse and the hand warmers worked OK, but took a while to warm up.
My only complaint is the machine is really noisy between 5000 and 6000 rpms. It sounded like gear train noise and kind of rang in my head. It was really annoying. Is this common with the Apex? I rode a few miles on a 05 RX-1 and it was loud but not obnoxious like my Apex. My old sled ran really quiet at all speeds. Am I being overly critical?

Seems to me that all the sound from my Attak comes from the rear from the exaust. My RX-1 and Warrior were the same until I put K&N filters on them then you could hear the engine growl

An R-1 is the same. Its just the harmonics of the motor. Annoying but normal.
