With the Excell's header alone Excell's dyno work shows 5 hp mid and 2-3 hp on top for gains. This is without a fuel controller. More with full exhaust, but from my conversations with Aaron at Excell most of the gains were found on the header, or so I understood. The fit and finish of Excell's full exhaust w/ cowling is awesome if you decide to do the whole exhaust and it will be louder too.
Full performance gains come with full exhaust, air box mod, plugs, and fuel controller. I want to say with all those one can expect 15++ hp gains.

With just the header you'll still have the drone. That's where I'm at. I may acquire the full exhaust in the future, maybe next year. So I can't answer if it drones with the full Excell exhaust. Anyone else know?
I got my above hp figures directly from Aaron at Excell himself. You could also talk to Allan Ulmer, as the two have a business alliance and work together for tuning.

Can't speak for the Excel but when I had the bender Race on mine I still had the drone only louder. Drove me completely nuts at trail speed so I went back to stock. I think it is just the tone from the engine at that magic RPM.

No, I think you are confused... Aaron told me when I had my Apex, it was 2hp on the header and 5hp bottom and mid and 1 on top with the exhaust. He was almost not going to offer the header, because there was not much of again in the header. It's not accumulative...
Now the Nytro header makes power over the exhaust.

I might have had the 2 and 5 hp numbers mixed up, but that is what he told me the gains were with the header alone.
Maybe this will help. It is Ulmer's dyno sheet for header alone:

Yep, gains are 300 rpm's, which is 2-3++ hp. Not too shabby for a part you have to replace eventually anyways. My long term plan is for the full Excell exhaust. I really like the stock look Aaron at Excell has kept with his full exhaust/ Excell rear plastic cowling. Fit and finish is EXCELLent ;-)!
