Apex GT and Attak Carbides question

Hello Yamaha junkies!

Quick question for all you in the know? ;)!

MY buddy and I just picked up our sleds this weekend, Gary's in Caribou, ME. Me the Apex GT and him (Sparky18) the Attak. We are slightly agressive riders, mostly average riders in Central Maine, but get on it every now and then. 95% of our riding is groomed trails.

I can't believe the little stubby's Yamaha put on these rock'n sleds for carbides? It is the only area I think they really went cheap. :o|

What would you guys recommend for carbides for our riding style. Both of us had picks on our Revs and are waiting to see how the ripsaw goes before deciding on picks or not.

I am thinking 6" no lower. I don't need or want to go to a double runner, had that on my REV and didn't care for them. I think 6" unless I Pick then 8". What about the Attak, with the extra track length. We don't want to change them if or after we pick them, but don't want too much bar if we keep the track standard.

If you can throw out some sizes and brands it would be great! :rocks:

Ya i got my sleds from garys in caribou too,and the stock carbides on most all sleds are 3-4 inch,i have the attak and i have not studded it yet either, but will run 8" 60 degree carbides and my boys rtx most likely the same,so if and when we stud,i wont need to be changing anything, and if i stud the attak gary has 120 studs ready for me,even though i will only install 108 up the middle, you have to buy 96 plus 24 anyway to get 108 at least at most dealers so i will have extras left over in case of breakage or i decide i want to add more. :yam: ;)!

D-man go to cb performance and check out there vidio of there carbides and decide for yourself,as i will be buying there carbides, and there price is very good, they are sponsore on totallyamaha.

8" executive series or 9" Shaper bars I believe by Rouetin.

I always start the year for the first 2-3 rides with the original Yamaha and change carbides for the Woody's Trail Blazer IV with 6 '' turning carbide after. That's what I had on my Warrior and I liked those. I had 108 studs on my Warrior and it went well. ;)!

I'm going to the NOVI show and will look into carbides. Anyone aware of dealers/booths I/we should visit for Attak carbides ?

As for Yamaha going "cheap" - I also think the handlbar has a cheap feel to it. Looks like a strippped down, racing setup.

New Attak 196 Woody's on the back 8"triple point bergstroms on the front, had this set-up on my 04 warrior worked great

I put 6" Dooley's on my 05 Rage (no studs) & had great results!
only problem with dooleys I have heard is when you hit pavement you cant move very well with 4 carbides digging in and you will loose some top end do to extra drag also I have heard they plow in the corners because they tend to gather snow between the doolies.
