I need to remove the electric shock to install bigger spring and a revalve. My question is do you undo the electric cord way up inside the machine or does it come apart down at the shock? Thanks for the info guys! Honk

There seems to be two slightly different EC shocks. If you can see a shiny metal clip holding the black solenoid in the shock body, you can simply pop the clip off and the solenoid will easily come out. There will be no loss of oil or gas pressure so it is safe to do.
However, I also have an EC shock in which the solenoid is held in place with an internal clip. I have no idea how to get this solenoid out of the shock without wrecking it. If this is the case, you will need to find the connector and remove the shock wire harness.
Hope this helps.

there is a plug-in at the shock,it is coved by a small black boot!

its easier to do that.. cut the tie wrap holding the boot and pull back the boot and un-clip the shock wire

There doesn't seem to be a clip at the shock. There are two black rubber grommets near the end of the wire near the shock, but this seemed to hold the wire ties in place.. So I have the wire running through the footwell(right side) up to the back of the gas tank, where there is a white electrical clip. I'll take that to Pioneer i guess. Thanks for the info! Honk

I took the electric Ohlins out today. there are two places to undo.one at the shock and one up under the foot well . Bruce at pioneer revalved and changed to the next heavier spring while I waited! What service! Reinstalled into sled very easy. Hope it works as everyone claims. Bruce said this is what he is doing for himself and many others, only diff would be the weight of the rider. I'm 200lbs. This Apex only has 3 weeks worth of riding and when I looked at all the idler wheels I could see rust coming from the bottom of the bearing. they were empty of grease, and all rusty inside. WOW! Can only imagine the more important bearings. If this is any indication, ya better Checkum all. guys

Just wondering, is this upgrade to revalve the shock & change the spring something that Yamaha is doing for the 06 & 07 model.

Yammy did make the change ,but only on the 08s. They let us 06 and 07 owners fix it ourselfs, at our cost. Good Luck < Honk

GREAT to hear yammamoose! If the revalve and heavier spring work to stop the bottoming out it will be completely worth it! $210 inclued tax. Great riding sled to start with, except for the easy bottoming. I am 200lbs and went only one size bigger than stock.Hopr that was enough? How bout you? Talk to ya. Honk
