I have a 08 Yamaha Apex GT. I love it. Like every other sled all of us buy, with in a year. We should have bought their faster one. I have been thinking of going down one on my gear ratio for more top end and a clutch kit to get out of the hole faster. I have one tech who has done this and states he should have never done it. He said its great on Ice and lakes but to fast in the trails. I dont know how true this is As I think I am a more aggressive rider than him. But still my wife thinks I will die on a sled. I am in no hurry to prove her right. Has anyone ever done this and are happier with the performance?
Thanks,

There is some to be gained with clutching, but stock clutching is very close. If you have to be first clutch kit(ulmers stage 2 or drag n flies from heelclicker) both kits work well in my opinion. Ulmers stage 2 comes with the top gear too. I have buddys running turbo's and superchargers in the trail so I cant see a clutch kit as being to much for trail. I personally have kept my 06 gt stock, but will put a clutch kit on after this year, probably ulmer's. Hope this helps.

I have the heelklicker 2 speeds and 23 gear . Turk helped me out with setup he feels the 2speed is better then drag and flys . I have been running the 2speeds since my 2000 sxr700. Greatkit and a little cheaper. My 05 rx1 is awesome just put them on my 09 apex gt and feel the change need to fine tune alittle which is pretty easy.
