I bought an 06 Apex GT (750 miles) a couple weeks ago, it has the electronic mono shock, and for the second time this year ice buildup broke the wires between the shock and the first quick connect plug. The last time I rode (only about 30 miles) everything was working correctly, then I noticed I couldn’t get the shock to display on the LCD screen and noticed the shock wire was broken again.
Here’s the problem, I soldered the wire with only about an inch of the existing factory wire coming out of the top of the shock. All of the connections are good, and I still can’t get the shock to display on the LCD. When I tested resistance of the shock with my meter set to 200 Ohms, I get 4.5 on the meter. My other concern is that the black cap that the wires go into can swivel. It does not easily spin, but with very little effort the entire black top with the wire can spin.
My question: Is this black shock top that contains the wire supposed to spin????? If not, can this piece be replaced? I don’t want to buy a new shock at $1,000… If the shock is functioning correctly (4.5 ohms resistance, etc..), and the black top cap is supposed to swivel, then I have no idea why my shock is not showing up on the LCD.
Thanks for your help!
