I had their dual spring setup in mine and was never completely happy with it. I've switched back to the Ohlins 6.1 spring for this season.

Look at the suspension heading under the Apex/Attack frequently asked questions sticky at the top of the Apex general talk forum. There is a wealth of info there that has almost been long forgotten.

Pick rear up and have your bud measure spring
Then sit on it with all your gear & goodies
Have that same bud measure spring again
40 to 45 mm should be the difference

If you have the better version, use this same method, but you'll also have to adjust the small spring with the middle collar

I was looking for a ballpark measurement to set the spring length to before I install the skid to save me a bunch of adjustment with the spanner.
Can anyone suggenst starting point for the spring installed length with the skid on the bench?

It's difficult to suggest a preload setting since there are so many factors that go into it.
With that said, a good starting point is around 10.25-10.5 inches spring installed length. You don't want to set to much preload as to be in a coil bind situation. That sets the lower limit on how much preload you can have.

the HYGEAR dual spring was a bit difficult to install. Had to compress it a bit to get the aluminum spring holder in.

Did you have to get the shock body machined ?the HYGEAR dual spring was a bit difficult to install. Had to compress it a bit to get the aluminum spring holder in.
On the hygear website it says that the mono shock needs machining to install their dual rate spring.
