Just wondering what Handguards to put on the Apex, I have all types of them but none seem to fit, The yamaha ones seem to be the best but I would have to clip off the plastic nobs on the hand & thumb warmers, where the zip strips / wire ties are. Any suggestions. I don't really need them but just want the extra protection, I must be a lucky one since my warmers are as hot as my viper.

Just installed PowerMadds on my RTX. They fit very well, and you do not need to clip off anything, since you install them on the *inside* of the controls, not on the outside.
Very quick install and very painless - several options available regarding exact placement. Just make sure you get the kit that's made for snowmobiles.
What kind of windshield do you have? On a higher windshield, I would guess the handguards would nudge the edge of the shield when steering is at maximum, but the shield is quite soft so I don't think it would matter.

I installed Sportechs only because the Powermadds didnt come in Red Chrome. I had to remove the 2 rivtes that hold the guard on to the bracket, and bend the bracket down (after installed) so the handguards would be flush with the bars. Turned out good but was a bit of a pain...BBY

Thanks for all the info, I tried both, and had plenty of room with the front shield, I decided to go with the yamaha guards, and clipped the useless plastic nobs off, I'd put some picsin , but i am new to the site i haven't looked into that yet[/img]
