Has anyone found good aftermarket mirror or windshiels for new Apex / Attaks? Great sleds.... but Yamaha sure came up short on accessories!!! I bought the $80 Yamaha mirrors advertised for the Apex, drilled 3 holes in each cowling, and they are absolutely WORTHLESS. They don't stick out far enough and don't have enough range to point where you want. On my 05RX1 I used the Venture style mirrors mounted on the windshield and they were excellent. Wish they had something like that. Any solutions out there???? Thanks.

I too have the mirrors from Yamaha and was less than thrilled when I first installed them. I have elongated the holes so that the mounting block (and mirror) can be rotated outward. This is still not perfect, but it does give a reasonable view behind you. I used stainless fender washers underneath to keep it rigid. The lower position of the mirrors and the fact that your arm blocks the mirrors is a benefit at night to me as there is little reflection from following sleds. I lift my forearm slightly when I do a rearward check. I have the Yamaha tall black and chrome windshield and am pretty satisfied with it.

Correction, I have the medium, not the tall windshield on my GT. I have had a Cat mirror next to the windshield where it would mount, but the angle is too sharp on the edge. It probably could work with a lot of work and patience to grind the mounting posts to lay correctly on the windshield. The Cat mirrors do work nice though, maybe a manufacturer could look at those and make a set to work on the Yamaha.
I had the Powermadd Star Series handguards and then added PowerMadd's mirrors to them for 19$, and it was the best looking mirror I'v seen on a sled.
i should've kept them when I sold the sled.

I have tried a Cat mirror on the windshield and the contours don't line up. I do have a solution using Yamaha parts with a tall windshield with the support brackets. I tried to post pictures last night and couldn't get them loaded into my write up, finally get fed up and went to bed. I'll try again this weekend. If anyone has any insite on how to get pictures into the text I would be greatful. Needless to say I'm not very good with a computer.

Do a search on here.
The best option IMO is to install Venture Lite mirrors to the handlebars using a universal bike mount.
Search for posts by me on mirrors and you'll get all of the part numbers if you want to go that route.
There are also pictures of the setup here as well.

Mirror pictures
Here are some pictures of the Venture Lite mirrors on my RTX.
I also have the tall windshield installed with the support braces. I didn't feel the braces were mounted solidly enough to be used to mount the mirrors (using the complete Venture Lite kit) so I used univeral bike mirror mounts from Royal Distributing to mount them to the handlebars.
I find the height just about perfect. They are low enough that they don't obstruct my view and they are high enough that although I can see my shoulders, I can also see behind me very well.

Ski dog sell a handlebar mounted mirror, ugly as a foot but it works, $25 dollars later you can keep track of you loved ones.

Mirrors?
Blue Dog, what is the mirror you are referring to?
Has anyone looked into a bar-end mirror from either a motorcycle or bicycle shop?

powermadd guards n mirrors
I did exactly the same thing, pissed off.....wrote to yama about it.
Bought the hand guards last yr and this yr they came out with a add on mirror too. Bought it and took miniutes to install and they are awesome. Can even rotate the angle 360deg. They might look small but do the trick!
