Started sled last night and it ran fine, changed the oil today, got it all back together, started it up and it backfired a couple times. I know the gas was low, I'm not sure how low but it might have been pretty much out empty. I started it back up again and it didn't start well, then sounded like it was only running on 1 or 2 cylinders. I figured it was out of gas, I put some in and that didn't change anything. I tore it back apart, checked all wire connections and everything but I just don't see anything abnormal. I'm not getting an engine code. I do see the engine 'icon' thing show up for a second when I start it (never noticed it before but maybe it always does?) but no yellow light or engine code. I'm going to take all the spark plugs out next but I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas??? I honestly don't know if all cylinders were running on the initial start before any backfiring, I think it was but I'm not positive. I find it hard to believe two or more plugs might have fouled out for some reason... Anyone have any problems like this? Any help would be much appreciated!!

You may have sucked up some crud from the bottom of the tank if it was that low?
Purchase some Sea-Foam and run it through if possible?

I'm guessing you have 1 or more fouled plugs. You have to make sure these 4 strokes get fully warm before you shut them down.

X2

If you started and didn't let it fully warm up, the plugs will very likely foul out.

Could you give us the voltage of your battery?

I ad the same problem, change the oil in the fall ( with out starting the sled ) , start the sled and it was running like on 2 cylinder but with a code 33.

The battery was below 12 volt......change the battery and problem gone.

Not saying this is your problem but cost nothing to check.

Oops...I've done that a couple times now...Hopefully I won't run into the same problem but if I do then you'll know for sure what your problem is too apex_rtx! Haha!

x4, I did the same thing, and it wouldn't run properly until I put 4 new plugs in.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Rock, when starting the sled it didn't seem like the battery was low at all but I'll definitely check it to be sure. It seems pretty odd to just happen like that but yeah it definitely seems like the plugs might need to be changed. I feel better knowing a few people have had the same problem tho haha, hopefully changing out the plugs will be the solution. Thanks again! I'll reply with what I find, but I won't be able to do anything til next weekend unfortunately.

You didn't happen to remove the plug wires and mix them up did you, I know that was possible with the RX1 and it could possibly happen with the Apex.

As many of you suspected, that's what it was. I put 4 new plugs in (2 of the 4 were wet so I assumed fouled) and it ran perfect. I'm thrilled it was nothing more than that. Thank you all for your comments. I didn't realize shutting it down before it warmed up was bad, I thought you just had to be sure it was warmed up before actually moving it... Good to know, I'll be more careful now. Whether it actually got to the point of running out of gas I don't know, I should i have looked in the tank before adding more gas, haha, my bad. Oh well, now I'm ready to ride when the trails open!
