Hey guys. My 2006 apex gt motor is really giving me problems. I put the motor in my Polaris rzr and I just rebuilt the motor with low compression turbo pistons and it's acting up. I checked my timing yesterday and the cams are perfectly lined up. My valves are all in specs. My coil packs are good, my tps is good, my stator is good, I have fresh fuel in it 93 octane, I have a charged battery, I have a power commander 5 with auto tuner but it does . it with or without a tune, I have good grounds, I have consistant fuel pressure and a new fuel pump, I have clean cr10ek plugs, ive done the tors bypass, it is displaying code 42 but that's just the speed sensor not hooked up. If you guys wouldn't care to watch the video and give me a good idea of what's wrong with it I would really appreciate it. I am holding the temp gauge in the video and dont mind the end of the video when it dies. I had two wires touch and blew a fuse. I've had a lot of people trying to figure it out.

The Speed Sensor may be the problem.... I would try to get that to read something off the drive someplace.... it almost sounds like its limiting the motor.

Okay. Is there any way you could tell me or show me in some sort of picture what connector is for the speed sensor? I do not have the sensor itself. But maybe I could connect a wire and make it read something.

I am away from my shop for a few days so I can get you a pic. Might need the pick up to sense the speed or maybe jumper them togather. Is there a black and orange wire with a white plug that is not being used?

I found the plug and was able to get the code to go away but it ran the same. I also put seafoam in the tank and after a little bit it shot out smoke and seemed to iidle a little high. I just took it for a spin and now it hits 8000 rpm and is a little more responsive. Do you think my injectors are bad?

Also if I give it throttle in neutral and let off, it does not idle back down as fast as it should. there are no vacuum leaks. I just checked.

Could be plugged... did you try new plugs?? stock heat range? You said cleaned maybe try new.

Well they aren't brand new but I don't have many hours on them. I appreciate your help Mr sled. You have no idea how long I've waited and how anxious I've been to get thisgoing.

I will keep working with you as much as I can... It looks like a awesome build and would love to drive that sucker.

Ok well today I took the programmer and took away 10% fuel at 8000-11000 rpm and it ran much much better. It will easily rev over 8k rpm now. And I'm still using a lot of fuel. I've driven about a total of 10 miles under 8000rpm and I've let it idle in the garage for about a total of 30mins. I've burned half a tank of gas just doing that. Almost $15 in fuel. So it's got to be using way too much fuel. Which doesn't make sense. Also...it does not idle perfectly. The rpm gauge needle jumps 100rpm like a car would with a bad crankshaft position sensor. and it hesitates when I give it throtte. And has poor throttle response. And still if I give it throttle, it takes longer than it should to idle back down. Do I have a bad sensor and not know it??

I thought you had a good map... heck ya that fuel is way off, I am sure that why it runs like crap on the bottom and at idle. You need an AFR gauge to be able to see where you need to take fuel or add fuel back in. Try adding fuel at idle, its could be lean not allowing it to idle back down.

I've got the auto tuner on right now telling me where exactly the fuel needs to be adjusted and how much it needs to add or remove. I've got the target afr set within the 13.3-13.8 range. I'm going to ride it for a bit tomorrow and accept the tune from the auto tuner and see what happens.

Sounds good. Let me know how it goes.

Are you the guy running the low compression pistons & thicker head gasket for a Turbo in a stock motor without a Turbo?

If so that will affect things somewhat and definately reduce power.

Not sure that is your issue, but something to let people know if you are that guy.

I think it is the stock head gasket thickness. Just dished in pistons. It Stoll runs like crap. But the tune allowed it to rev higher. Leaning it out.
