I originally had a problem with my reverse coming out of gear. I found the info on here to adjust it and I did.. I loosened the bottom linkage a little bit and tested the reverse several times with no problems. I just came back from a four day trip and the reverse still pops out occasionaly. I now have a new twist to this.. I missed a turn in loose snow... I grabed the brake and I came to a hard stop on the turn. I went to pull away and all it made was a weird grinding noise much like it did when the reverse popped out. I put it in reverse and back to drive with the lever and it finally pulled away. It was as if it came out of drive. Whats wrong with it? and how do I fix it????

I have no answer, but I can say that I have definitely experienced a similar thing on my Attak. If you lock the track up at speed while the clutches are still engaged and come to a complete stop, it seems everything is just sort of locked in place. A few hits of the throttle and generally SQUEEL, GRIND, BANG and everything returns to normal. Sounds like hell though.
I think it might be the clutches themselves not releasing under certain conditions, not the gears...but that was just my impression. Never had other sleds do this.
I've also had issues where it sometimes won't go into reverse when I want it to, and I too have adjusted the linkage properly...which helped but didn't solve it 100%.
Overall I just think there's an irritating design flaw in there. I am not at all a fan of Yamaha's reverse gear box. This is one of my few complaints about this sled. It seems to be very fickle and cumbersome compared to other brands older mechanical reverse systems that work much more smoothly and consistently.

well my reverse works 99% of time.. when it does slip out of reverse its usually after a long high speed run.

sounds very familiar like the heat in the chaincase could be adding to this problem
ever notice your right foot and leg getting warm while riding
is it the (radiator)fan never comes on or chaincase/ both
seems to me extra cooling in that area may help alot of problems
im going to put a switch on that radiator fan to pull hot air out ...when it gets hot just hit the switch to help the cooling

This is exactly what you experienced nb-viper. It is normal on the 4 cyl sleds it seems. My Warrior and Apex are both like this. If you slide the track to a complete stop from speed it locks the belt in the secondary at the position it was in when you grabbed the brake. So it is like trying to start out in fourth gear when you go to leave again. Makes sense when you think about it.
Just make sure to not have the track locked at speed when you stop or get off the sled and give it a push for five feet or so with low throttle to un-stick the belt in the secondary.
IMHO your reverse pop out issue out is unrelated. More adjustment required maybe?
