Apex rev limiter

Does anyone know how the rev limiter on the stock Apex controls RPM.
Is the rev limiting function accomplished only by reducing timing or is there more going on?

Bob, I've heard that the ECU begins retarding timing after 11k. It will then hit the limiter at some rpm after that. I cannot tell you what the rpm is that the rev limiter actually kicks in but, we did bump it once on my previous dyno session. I think Ulmer is the one who had said that the stock ecu begins retarding timing after 11k. It may still be on one of his old posts in his section. I cannot confirm that.

Stock timing begins to be reduced at 11,000 rpm. Spark is cut at 11,200 rpm.
