06 apex standard, studs, dynojet pc3, excell muffler, no airbox mods, 3500 miles, belt is 34.3mm, advant-edge motorsport helix, black secondary spring with silver paint in the #6 hole, black spring on primary. Bought the sled used and the guy didnt have any other info about the mods.
Scenario 1- While going across a lake wot around 65-70mph I am pinging the rev limmitter. If I push it, I can get up to 95mph then the rpms seem to settle down to 10,8xx and sled starts to pull away like it should. 3-4 inches of hard pack on the ice.
Scenario 2- I did a pretty hard stop (locked up track and slid to a halt), went to take off and nothing. The secondary stayed partially open. I had to close it by hand to get going again.
I went through the secondary and there is no abnormal wear, everything looks good. I am getting different answer from different sources. Im being told my secondary spring has gotten weak over time, and I need more weight in the primary. There is a lot of knowledge to be had on here, and I have been searching for hours. My observation is a stiffer spring in the secondary will actually raise my rpms at wot. Not really sure where to go from here? Am I dealing with 2 different issues, or could these be related? Also does anyone have my secondary setup, I cant seem to find any info on it?

Scenario 2 is 100% normal.
I can't comment on clutching other then its off LOL The springs can wear out and make a huge difference.

I'd give ulmer or excell a call. They used to work together on kits back in the day.

That clutch kit likely uses Supertips weights. Tell me the washer orientation on them and I can likely get you pointed in the right direction if Al Ulmer doesn’t get back to you.

Wrong secondary spring for that sled. Stock they came with a pink at 60. A quick upgrade was to go to a white @ 60. Primary stock I think is orange-silver-orange.
What weights are in the primary? Are they adjustable?

That silver secondary spring is part of Ulmer’s APEX clutch kit, it’s the correct one for the setup he’s running. The primary spring in his kit will most likely be a orange/pink/orange as well.Wrong secondary spring for that sled. Stock they came with a pink at 60. A quick upgrade was to go to a white @ 60. The stock Apex primary spring in 06-10 was a yellow/silver/yellow.

I believe it’s orange/pink/orange that’s what I got on mine from ulmer for my primary. Mine used stock pink secondary at 70 but I think the 06-10 came with silver at 80-90 from ulmer. Either way stubby hungwell will get u in the right direction he helped me.
