I’ve had my 06 apex for 5 years now and it’s never done this before…..while riding last weekend, the RPM won’t go below 4-3500ish. Sometimes the sled won’t actually stop unless I hold the brake. But if I go outside and start it right now, everything will be normal and idle properly, until I start given’er. I adjusted the idle lower for the first time and thought I fixed it, but after a 20min ride today, the sled still continued to move after releasing the throttle.
i don’t know if my clutch is sticking or if the throttle is starting to stick.
Where should I start?

I had an Apex that did this before and there was corrosion starting in the throttle body linkage causing it to stick partially open.

The idler nut is underneath the light, facing clutch side. You can reach it with a long straight blade screw driver when you take off the side panel. How did you adjust the idle?

What’s the throttle body linkage? Where the thumb throttle is (cable)? Or deeper inside?

i would reccomend take it apart and make sure everything moves smoothly with the spring out/no load on the parts.

I am having the same exact problem on my 2009 venture GT. Clutch sticks and I have to stay on the brake if I want to go slow. Otherwise she will cruise at 15 mph by itself, then slowly come to a stop after maybe 800 feet. I am going to take the primary apart and clean it tomorrow. I am also thinking of going to a heavier weight primary spring if it continues. It doesn’t seem like the engine idles up high, but that could also be an issue. Will report back. Would like to know if anyone else ever came across this problem before!

make sure you have the right width belt. had this issue on another sled where the aftermarket belt was the wrong width and would not disengage.I am having the same exact problem on my 2009 venture GT. Awesome, thanks. Will check that out. I have a new spare belt for it as well, might throw that on to see if it’s any different.make sure you have the right width belt. had this issue on another sled where the aftermarket belt was the wrong width and would not disengage.

I don't have another here to look at, and it is hard to tell with a picture. I've never seen an issue with those sleeves. This look normal to you @74Nitro ? Those yellow plastic sleeves are pretty sloppyView attachment 169175View attachment 169174View attachment 169175

Do those sleeves ever get too gummed up? Maybe not allowing the throttle body to fully close you think? Ive cleaned the cable and that whole mess of goodies in there with carb cleaner. They weren’t yellow when I startedI don't have another here to look at, and it is hard to tell with a picture. I've never seen an issue with those sleeves.

I've never had an issue with the sleeves. If the cable is questionable, I wouldn't clean, just get a new one from Yamaha.
