My 07 RTX's suspension has proven itself to being VERY durable. I am a little afraid something might eventually break, but I am absolutely not taking it easy with this sled. So far it is holding together very well.
My buddies are breaking monoshock suspensions left, right and center while riding with me on rough trails. Just last week one guy on an 06 Apex ER, with yet another new pair of pivot arms, broke his front pivot arm again. He has now gone through something like 5 sets of front pivot arms, 3 rear pivot arms, and 2 slide rails. If you add up all of the broken Monoshock parts with the guys I ride with we've gone through at least a dozen front pivot arms (many heavily reinforced and still being broken), half a dozen rear pivot arms and at least 5 slide rails.
My 07 RTX, at 7000 km, is still on its original rear suspension (except upper front pivot arm bushings; these I had custom machined out of oilite and the front limiter straps). On top of that, I've been riding my RTX much, much harder than I've ever ridden a sled before. Maybe its a middle age crisis going on, but I've started to really enjoy jumping and riding very rough trails at high speeds.
On top of that, now that I'm running Mike Carver's valve stacks, this suspension works absolutely amazingly well on rough trails. The overall sled's performance and stability now blows the doors off all of the other sleds I'm riding with, including the 08 MXZ X-package.
Hopefully Ross's linkage removal kit works out for you. I am now 100% convinced with the right valve stacks that leaving the front pivot arm/rear shock linkage intact does provide exceptional ride performance on rough trails.
One thing that probably should be made clear is the 07/08 RTX does use considerably stronger parts than the 06/07 Nytro and 05 Vector. The front pivot arm and the entire linkage system is much beefier. The linkage system (that you are replacing) is also machined out of billet aluminum, instead of the heavy gauge sheet metal used on your sled.
How many people are posting about breaking their 07/08 Apex RTX suspensions? I don't think I've seen a single post about this - ever (but there are hundreds of posts about how poorly the shocks are valved).
Although the Monoshock suspension is far too weak for aggressive, rough trail riding, I think we should give credit where credit is due. 07/08 RTX suspensions are simply not breaking (unless the thread starter for this thread does actually have an 07/08 RTX).

Thanks for posting that ReX. I'm picking up an 07 RTX tomorrow........
Anyone have a any tips for re-installing the Pro Active skid? I havent attempted it yet, but it looks like it might be a bit of a pain, seeing as there are no contol arms that can be removed to help align the rear 2 holes. I am thinking about removing that whole shaft that supports the 2 rear control arms, then installing mount bolts, then bolt the shaft back in. Anyone try this?

Got mine out lol!! Im installing a 136" extension on my '07 RTX. Have yet to have time to install the skid back on the sled.
But what I have always done with the skid on my other sleds, is use a rachet strap and rap it around the top and bottom part of where the shock is mounted, that way it compresses it and while you get the wholes lined up, put the two bolts in and undo the rachet strap.
It shouldnt be too bad, just breath in and breath out. You'll get it!!

Release the tension on the rear/torsion springs untill all four bolts are started, start front bolts first.
