Finally got around to changing the seat over to an Apex one, very easy! I used a Dremel cut-off to trim the tank cover, I marked the tank cover 3.5" in the middle and used the front edge of the Apex seat to mark the right curve to the points, worked extremely well.
My question, as I have raised the seat I now need to raise the bars as well. I am trying to decide how much to raise them, I am currently thinking about the Rox adjustable riser, but not sure. Any suggestions from those who have done it would be appreciated. Please advise what pivot and riser you used, I am 6' 4" and predominitely a long distance groomed trail rtider.
Thanks for any responses.

I did the apex seat and rox adjustable height riser(6-8.25").I have the riser all the way up and it allows me to stand straight up,but I'm 6ft tall. You may want more if you are 6'4"tall,depends on the rise in the handlebar.I used yz 125 handlebars which had way less rise than the stockers.I figured mine by standing up on the machine then hold hands where you want them, have a friend measure from your hand to the current handlebar.I bought 05 rx1mountain throttle, brake, choke, and parking brake cables. Also had to extend all the wires going up to the bars. You may be able to cheat and reroute some of them to get the extra length.I was trying to bury all the plugs into my crossbar pad.You may have more flexibility using the big stock pad and handlebars.Definately worth the trouble.I stand at least half the time now and ride groomed trails that get beat up quick on the weekends.

I added an Apex Mountain seat and Apex bars to my RS. I am 5' 9"/10" and wanted to stand occasionally so I extended all of my cables with Vector Mountain cables and used a 5" Rox pivot risor and a 1" Powermadd riser block I had lying around. If you go with Apex bars you might want more riser than I went with. Here is some info on my mod. G.B.

I am going to do this mod as well and had a question, for the back plastic piece that you remove to get the seat off, does that still fit with the apex seat or do you have to buy a different piece? Thanks

Sorry to bring back a old post here lads but I just bought a apex seat for the RX1. I will be doing thing mod when it arrives. I just want to clear up some things before I go ahead with this. What did you use to cut the gas tank cover with, just a dremel or something? What were the measurments and how do you draw the line out. Just measure 3 1/2" and taper down to the edge. Simple as that or what? Just looking for a few more details thats all. Thanks.
I used aviation snips also- lay masking tape on 3.5" in centre and fade out to nothing at edge. Here are some other tips:

Do you know if a NytroMTX (08) would fit the RX1?

Look at the difference between middle and last picture (seat and bars)
