I bought a 2011 Apex xtx. The previous owner swapped out the skid to 136 inch and not sure which model it came off. I thought he said a Venture but can't find a picture of the one I have. it has a centre coilover shock with one control rod. The ride beats on my back, just need to soften the ride. Does anybody know which skid this is?

that is sounding like a mono shock skid but pic's would be better.

This is the shock.

It sounds like a monoshock skid, used in attak, apex ltx, vector ltx, google yamaha monoshock & theres a ton of images

Based on the shock picture it appears to me a monshock skid used in the attak, apex ltx& vector ltx, if it is a clicker shock with a small black adjuster knob it is a new style, need a couple more pics or info to help you with adjusting

not much of a picture I agree. There is no clicker on it. Here is a slightly better picture. Pretty tight in my garage these days.
What I want to know is can I loosen up the monoshock to soften the ride. My back is asking. All I ride is trails I'm not ditch banging.

Maybe it has a big boy spring on the shock. there are ways to tell. I can't help there but someone must know. Maybe Hygear could help.

i'm not sure what a big boy spring is but the coil looks pretty heavy. just looked at my neighbor's vector and it is the same skid. Hers is adjusted alot stiffer than mine. but she is probably 120 pounds and I'm twice that. Will try adjusting to see if I can get some good results. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

There is a way to setup and or tell if you need a big boy or softer ride Barn of Parts might help with that. He'll have softer springs if you need one. Or the proper spring for your weight, etc. He might be able to help you tell which spring you have. I can't remember exactly how to figure proper spring rate do Hygear would also know. Goes something like this. You lift the sled up in rear by hand then let it relax. You then get dressed totally and sit on the sled. You take the height difference into account between the rear un sat and when you sit. In other words how much it sags. Been years so I can't remember in my old age. But you'll know if your bottoming out when riding. Hope this helps.
