Just bought a very low mile clean bone stock 2013 Apex XTX.
This is my 1st Apex and I researched a lot before buying.
I wanted the XTX altho was aware of the XTX skid issues.
I'm 52, life long sledder and competent tuner/wrench.

I have already pulled the skid and sent both shocks to Star Suspension for revalving and a stiffer front track shock coilover spring. They will return them with the Star kit so the suspension should be good to go.

My query is wheels and slides?
After 30 yrs of Polaris I went to a 2013 FXNytro 3 yrs ago. I ran Duponts on it after burning the oem slides out at 500 miles. I left the oem skid wheels in place. I got 5000 miles on that setup with no probs.

Does the XTX skid suffer from the same issues of too small wheels/slides clearance and all the stiction and wear issues like the Nytro?
If so what is the best approach to fixing it?
Excel oversize wheels? Polaris wheels? those that are using Polaris wheels are you using their rail mounts too?
The XTX skid wheel mounts appear weak...hollow mounts ..really?
All of my Polaris sleds had bulletproof skidframes/wheels etc.....I am leaning toward that mod for that reason.
Who's using Polaris wheels/mounts on their XTX and what is the correct yr/model that they come from?
Polaris part number?.....especially the mounts themselves?

Will Dupont slides fix the problem alone and forget the wheel mods...at least until I need wheels?
The sled has 1700 miles of very light use and the oem wheels are like new so won't change them if I don't need to...until they are pooched.

Thanks

Dupont slides. Do not change your wheels. Get the slides. Never buy slides again.

I use the duponts and the excell wheels on my 2011 xtx 8200 miles and slides are like new and really rolls free.

Ditto to what icebreaker posted. I've had the Excel wheel kit from the second ever trip on the sled. Helped with normal slides quite a bit. Now, with the Dopnt/Excel combo I'll ride anywhere at any speed and no worries.

well i put slydog real cools on mine and have been running chap kimpex plastic for the last 3 seasons with no serious slide wear. also ran the kimpex replacement wheel with similar results on my brothers sled.
