Question for all who wear or wore a SnoForce helmet while riding an Apex. Sorry this is a little long winded...
I used to ride an 01 SRX with what I believe was a SnoForce II helmet. I never wore the the breath guard insert, just a baclava underneath and I never experienced any fogging or icing other than an occasional two little spots from the air coming out of my nose when riding in below zero temps. Never had a heated shield for it either. I always thought I had decent luck with the helmet but the padding was getting worn out, so I picked up a new one from Port Yamaha when they had them on sale. Figured I'd pick up another one while they were still available.
This year I switched to an 06 Apex and I'm running a mid height windshield. During the day the helmet is fine, although the two fogged up spots are bigger and actually create one bigger (although still small) patch of fog. This is present regardless of temps. At night is a completely different story. I can't for the life of me keep it clear. I've tried running with the breath deflector also, which seemed to make no difference. I also noticed that the entire outside of the helmet is covered in frost which leads me to believe it's something to do with the ride height and/or windshield height of the Apex.
The obvious solution is to get a different helmet. Probably a modular with a mouth piece. Lots of good recommendations out there. My question is for you guys running an Apex and the SnoForce helmet. Did you have the same problems? If so, did you just replace the helmet, or did you find a remedy? My night time fogging/icing problems are in temps ranging from 0F-32F degrees.
I'd like to take the same helmet and go for a ride on my SRX which I still have, but no good snow locally and no space on the trailers when we go elsewhere. I probably won't have a new helmet in time for my next ride, so I think I'll take my old SnoForce which I still have and see if the same problems occur.
Thanks,

I ride with a SnoForce don't know what version but I use the breath deflector and I don't have fogging issues.

To start out with a ride with a Doo modular helmet. I have noticed that my 07 RTX puts out alot of heat at night. What I mean by that is I see what I would call steam or heat vapors coming from the area around my handle bar riser. It seems to happen more in extreme cold temperatures while riding hard. I think this steam at speed is being pushed up toward your helmet causing the fogging or hazing condition Just something I have noticed. I bought a heated shield for mine to see if that would correct the issue. If not I will keep wiping it with my glove.

I had and loved my 01 SRX and Sno Force Helmet too but then along came the 07 RTX with the mid shield and I had the same problem..BAD!
I went to the snow show and picked up the BV2S Helmet and without a doubt it is the best Helmet I have ever owned!!!!! If you go with the cheaper Ski-doo Modular be careful as one of my friends picked up a new on this year and it was terrible for him!! He said his old Ski-doo modular worked great but he wanted to get a new one, big mistake for him. We were riding deep powder and my helmet was bone dry inside and out and his had snow coming in everywhere, he was ready to chuck it in the river!
I highly recommend the BV2S, it will NOT fog up at all!
I'm sure you could sell that Sno-force no problem, they are a great helmet.

Nope, he didn't pass on that story to me. I'd like to get a BV2S if I found one at the price you paid, but there's no way I'm paying the $499 retail or whatever it is these days. I did find the other ski-doo modular online for $179 - might go that route.

I put the heated shield on mine.
Need it for blizzard and freezing rain riding anyway.
Works great at night on the Apex GT when the humidity goes up as well.
I Never use the breath deflector.

I still have my original Snow Force (1) and ride an RTX with a mid height windshield. I have been running the electric faceshield for years and love them. New Years Day was very cold out and worse at nite. -30ish wind chill. No problem with fogging, but at those temperatures I could feel air comming thru a lot of places. I have really loved the electric shield over the years. I have busted powder in the past where I would get snow between the plies, and it would melt off, run down, and dry up. Might be an option if you are not opposed to the electric, but I'm not sure if you can find one for a SF2 anymore.

I can give you a great reference here. I have had many a rides ruined because of fogging. I went with an electric shield on my sno force and this helped but it was a pain.
I switched to an HJC helmet (not even with a breath guard) and dont even need an electric shield.
My brother had the exact same problem with his SNo force...he switched to HJC and got the same result I did. We are extremely happy with the HJC helmets.
