Just got back from my ride today and noticed that what usually feels like 80 or so was only reading 57 on the speedo. I got my phone out and confirmed this with GPS. At 81 MPH on my phone, the speedometer was reading about 55-60. It kind of jumps around. When you do a pull the numbers won't creep past 60 but when you let of the throttle, a number higher then 60 will appear for a split second. (there is no exact number just a number faster then 60, for example 78.) Then the speedo goes back and will slow down with accuracy. Below 30 it seems to be pretty much spot on but as you increase in speed it just tends to get more inaccurate. The speedometer and chain case bearing were all new about 200 miles ago. Any possible fixes for this? Mostly just worried about the odometer being accurate.

I also agree with rustinpeace in that many times when you know the speedo bearing is bad/going out, it already got into the speedo sensor. I would check for obvious signs of damage to see if that is what is causing the reading on the speedo to go haywire

Okay, I will look into that. The speed sensor was not changed, I had lost the chain case bearings and had a local shop do those and the speedo bearing just to be safe. I always work on my own stuff but now that I am now a college student and away at school I don't have a place to work on sleds. This is proving to be a very frustrating!
