I have just bought 06 Apex's and am wondering about the starting/warm up procedure.
When I bought it, the owner said to let the motor run, without touching the throttle, until a light ( I think it was the coolant temp light) goes out.
A friend of mine, who ones an Attack, told me to start the motor, then NEVER turn it off right away, or it would foul the plugs. He said that this happened to him when he first got his sled and had to take it into the shop because it would not start at all. The mechanic told him that the plugs will foul if you shut the motor down before it heats up.
The local dealer didn't agree with his story. He told me to turn the key on and wait for a few seconds for the pump to prime, then start it. He never told me to wait for any light to turn off.
So, what's the real story? My manual tells me to let the motor run untill it doesn't run rough.
Thanks in advance.

Yep, don't touch the throttle or shut her down until after the red light on the dash goes off.

I've cold fouled my plugs before, which is from shutting it off before it's warmed up. These sleds run rich as a general rule, so waiting for the plugs to reach optimim temperature is always best to be sure they can burn off the excess fuel deposits.
The ecu will limit the engine somewhat until the colant has reached operating temp, so you'll know it if you're trying to move too soon. It should only take 30-45 seconds or so of operating unless its really cold for the light to go out.
