Hi all
I was greasing all my bearings when I came across this damage on the inside of both my upper suspension - track wheels on my 2007 Apex. Looks like the inner side of each wheel has been to war with something in the suspension. The track looks perfect so I'm thinking on a big bottom out they must have contacted something in the suspension?
Only problem is I can't really see any tell tale marks anywhere on the suspension. It was getting late so, I let it be.
Then as I'm typing this I was thinking could the wheel be put on the wrong way around. It doesn't appear to have any obvious offset ?

Has anyone else come across this before?

That is strange..... I have replaced both of mine due to bearings and saw some wear on the rubber( missing couple chunks). I replaced them around 5,000 miles. I have the newer style wheels( 2010) and have the smaller ones that are only attached to the tunnel and not the skid not sure what you have going on there ? I have heard others complain about wheels being junk and failing. Looks almost like a heat issue? good luck.

Yeah it's kind of weird looking...may be just excessive heat damage, or maybe the wheels looked like this when they were installed? I don't believe that is a stock wheel, considering it's made by PPD. Is it the correct size? Did you install these wheels?

Thanks for the replies

I bought the Apex with 1000 miles on it about 3 years ago. I personally haven't changed the wheels. The bearings are a little worn but the thing I cant figure is what they have been hitting. The damage you can see isn't heat related but rather form them making contact with something. There were pieces of plastic hanging of the side like something had cut into the wheel, and I trimmed them of to neaten them up. Its like they have run into a bolt, or something else in the suspension, but I cannot see where.
I checked the part # and it seems correct.

Mine had the cir-clip facing out. I cannot tell from looking at the parts fish if it should be facing out or in.

Most likely ice. My Attak and my XTX both get tons of ice built up on the upper axle. Probably melt off and refreeze while sitting in the trailer after riding.

x3 dads old apex would do the same thing I had to replace those every year on his sled..... replace em and ride. check at the end of the year...
