Apex vs rev chassis

I am between sleds right now, I would like an answer from somone with experience on Apex as well as rev. I Hated the ergo of my old ZR, and liked the ergo on my brothers Rev. My other brother rides a Polaris XC, didn't like the chassis but loved his M-10. How does the rider forward on the Apex compare to the Rev chassis? How are the rides similar or different? Please keep brand loyalty out of your answers, I just want experience answers.

Mono suspension is tops in the market, rider ergos are not as forard as a rev or fusion, but your kness don't get crushed either. Go to a dealer and sit on one. BTW, if you are coming off a ZR, you will not be satisfied with the handling of any rider forward sled. Way tippier, and the Apex is no different. You can't have rider forward and a foot of suspension, and still corner like its on rails. But the Apex is still 10 times more sled then any ZR ever built!!!
 
Apex is a great compromise between the ZR and Rev. IMHO best of both worlds. You can set back when you want or stay forward very rev like.
 
I like the way you sit on the apex better than the rev. I have an attak and my wife has a 06 renagade. The gade will out handle the attak.but I did not get mine till the end of Feb, so I did not get it set up perfect yet.The rev makes you sit more forward than the yammi. They both ride really good. So it depends on how you like the feel of them when you sit on them.It would great if you could ride both, before you buy one.Ilike the sound of the yammi its just cool. By the way I rode polaris for 23 years and changed last year ;)

The thing I hated most about the ZR chassis is my knees were 2-4 inches above my a$$. This was way hard on my back. I don't care a ton about cornering on rails, I want comfort for those 150 mile days. If I go Apex it will have a supercharger. If I go Ski Doo, it will be Mach with longer front shocks (if they fix their ecu problems). I love speed, but I am getting to the point where comfort is a bigger factor!
 
My brother has an '06 Apex GT and I have friends with the rev chasis. I can tell you that if long rides is what you are looking for the Apex is by far the way to go. As stated, you can move around a lot more on the Apex than on the Rev's. They tend to "lock" you into one position. You can't beat the reliability of the Yamaha either. There are no problems with holding it to the bar for long, long runs that you wouldn't do with a two stroke. Just my .02.
 
I have both an apex RTX and a 2004 REV, I find the apex more comfortable but in the nasty trails Im less tired after riding the REV. Even so, 9 times out of ten I'll prefer to ride the Yamaha over the rev, its just a nice refined sled thats a pleasure to ride. I was ski doo thru and thru,have owned them for years and thought Id never be on another brand, but after 4 consecutive seasons of catastrophic engine failures I left for more reliable pastures... not 1 regret yet!! I find the ski doo story a bit funny, up till 1999 ski doo was noted for having phenominal motors with chassis' that were barely adequate, but then they roll into the next decade with what many consider marginal motors and a chassis that rocks and they sell like mad, just imagine what they could have done had they nailed both at the same time!
 
Supercat........I've ridden Polaris from 1975 to 1996, 1 Cat in 2002 and since 1998, I've had 3 Yamahas (98 SRX, 2002 Viper, 2006 Attak).

I used to work up a sweat riding the 98 SRX & Viper, as you know the early Yamaha's were not the best ride on the snow.

But I must say.........out of all the swank sleds I've had through out the years.......this 2006 Yamaha Attak is absoulutly the most comfortable riding sled I have ever been on.........along with the awsome arm streaching power....when needed.

On the older sleds I was spent after about 150 miles..............on this new Mono suspension..........forget it! You can ride ALL DAY LONG...and be the last one to go to bed.

I've never ridden a Rev, so I apologize for not really answering your question.........but if you want comfort..........do like I did.........get the ATTAK!!!!! You will be impressed!! ;)!

Go with the Apex. I would not be surprised if the Rev platform changes next season to a more comprimising design, similare to the Apex. Skidoo is due for a change and they always like to copy some one elses success. :yam:
 
I have a 06 GT and a 05 MXZ 600 HO.
TT670 is right,the Yamaha is what I would choose 9 of 10 times but when the trails are bad the Rev is less tiring.I`ve done some 140 mile back to back rides on these sleds and Im less beat up after riding the Doo.
Rev puts you as part of the sled it seems(in attack position all the time) and the Yam lets you decide where to sit for crusing or gettin jiggy down the trails.
 
You stated that if you went with DOO you would get the Mach Z. The Mach chassis (RT) is a bit different than the REV chassis. I had them both. Sold the Mach and still have a REV for my wife. The Mach riding position is much like the Apex/Attak... a bit more relaxed than the REV, but much heavier. The RT chassis rails in the corners but you need to back off through the rough stuff. 200 mile days are attainable on either sled but if there is a lot of rough trail the REV will shine above the Mach.

This season there is an Attak GT in the trailer for me. I wanted a longer track and was deciding between it and a Renegade 800. All of the perceived positives about Yamaha were quite alluring to me... I hope the perceptions are true! After many years of buying Doo I'm back with Yammi. At the age of 46 I think I no longer have the burning desire to be the first guy accross the lake so if that is not what I get from the Attak thats OK. I am expecting though to have an exceptional ride with minimal headaches from this Yamaha.
 
I have both, 06Apex gt and 05 MXZ 800X I like both. Apex rules on smooth trails and long rides of 200 plus miles. Rev rules on rough trails Seat to soft on apex GT. If your considering a Mach Z I wouldnt bother just get the apex. I might consider a new 800 rev next year when they come out with the 800R engine in the short track

Couldn't of said it better myself !!!
I'm also considering buying an other rev to just ride harder in the twisty bumpy stuff.
 
My buddies ride ZRs.. ive test rode the 06 Revs and i own a Apex gt..

The revs do there best in the rought stuff.. but for trail ridiing the seating position is too far farward.. The ZRs are too much of a sit down sled.. the Apex is a good compromiss and way more reliable..

The springs on the apex sleds are too soft.. easily fixed with a new heavier spring.. after that there is no looking back

I just bought a 4 year exteneded warranty for my sled.. (usually i buy new ever two years) not anymore..
