Hi guys, Great site! I first have to admit that I have always been a Skidoo guy. I currently own a Rev600 HO SDI. I am very seriously thinking of buying a new Apex this week, but I could use some of your opinons. I realize that this is a YAMAHA site and would expect to get some biased opinions, however, I would appeciate some honest feedback especially from anyone that has previously owned a REV or has spent time riding one. I don't doubt for a second that this machine lacks power. I do know that after riding my REV for 200 miles, my back and body are ready to ride the next day (no matter how bumpy the trails are). I wonder if the Apex really has that Geometry that the Rev has. I read most of the forums on this site and most guys rate their Apex's with 9's and 10's in Power, Fit and Finish, however the handling catagory seems to lag in the ratings. Is the Apex really there yet? or not quite?
Thanks for your opinions!!! ;)!

Some rate the handling lower cause they are having darting or pushing problems. I personally buy new ski's no matter what make I might buy and with the C&A's I corner like on rails. Those who are rating the handling lower are speaking of cornering problems. It's all in setup.

I also ride Tug Hill a lot and last year I simply could not keep up in the chop with a Rev 440 that a friend rides on my RX. I could for a bit of course but it would beat me up. This year is a lot different. Not only can I keep up but the only soreness I've had even after really beat days is between my shoulder blades and he had the same. The monoshock is finicky but once setup to your wants is an awesome suspension.

As far as the riding positions. A rev would be my second choice out of all makes. The rev is even more forward and really pushes the rider to want to stand up. At 6'1" I'd constantly hit my knees. I still do a little on my Attak but the Apex riding position is such that you don't know whether to sit or stand when you ride cause both are equally comfortable.

IMO you need to try both yourself to see. The rev platform bothers me within 2-3 miles. On the other hand, my wife is not at all happy with the yamaha chassis, and will be a sdi owner next year. I am almost 6-6" and the wife is 5-8"

I previously owned a 2004 600 H.O and have made the switch to Yamaha this year. Unfortunately we have not had much snow but from the riding I have done I feel as though I will have no complaints plus the reliability will be there with a four stroke. The steering did need some work compared to my Rev but after a good set of carbides and a 1/4 shim I am all set, Plus the power and torque of my Attak is unbelievable. I went with a 136" this year because I have heard for the longest time that they ride smoother in the bumps so I figured I would find out for myself. If I were you I would not hesitate in taking the plunge. Plus, you will not have to worry about your rings no more. Good Luck

I have owned a 03 Rec 800 X and a 04 800 HO XPS.
Im 6ft 3 in. and having a ball on my RTX.
Last weekend we were on trails that were beat to death and a great test for the Apex.
It passed with flying colours.

Im glad I ditched doo and moved up in the world.

Ive got 2 REVs and the Apex, I think the Apex is VERY rev like in its handling, they both demonstrate very similar characteristics and IMO for those coming off a traditional seating position it takes the same changes to ones ride style that you have to learn when you first ride the REV. I think the seating and handlebars are better on the Yamaha. As far as the push in the corners... just like a REV too, its there when delivered but can be adjusted out pretty easily. When the trail gets tottaly trashed, the Apex ISNT better than a REV but its better on every other condition that Ive encountered. To give you an indication of how much I like my Apex, Ive got 500 miles on it and the ONLY time either of my REVs has moved is to make room the get the Apex out of the shop.

Ive ridden the REV 500ss and a Renagade.. i like the renagade better but neither i could ride longer than 20 miles before my hands were tingling badly and forearms were pumped up!

I would give the handling to the apex HANDS DOWN! the ride of the rev would only be better in the roughest of trails!!

The apex feels a TON lighter than the rx-1 when riding..

I rode an 03 800 X till last spring when I sold it. I snowchecked a Apex GT, and put almost 300 miles on it this year. I played quite a bit with the suspension, but it did not "put a smile" on my face the way the REV does. I just don't think it is rider forward enough yet. I traded the GT last Friday for a new REV... I really wanted to like the GT because there are many great features on it, as well as the 4 stroke advantage. Just my opinion - take it for whats its worth...

I had a Rev 600 ho and loved it. I decided to try the Attak this year. 300 miles so far and really like the Attak but the conditions haven't been good at all to really get a handle on the 4-stroke. I do like the seating postion, about the same as the REV for me. The handling doesn't seem to be quit as good on the Attak in the tight twisties for me but I'm still getting used to this sled and I expected that due to the longer track. I can say that there is nothing like this 4-stoke motor, it is so smooth and of course the power is awsome. All in all I am real happy with the Yamaha

Trying to comp a Rev to a Apex is silly. The REV is a flat out 2 foot Mogul masher. The Apex sleds can go in the big bumps but not like a rev because they weren't built for that.

The place the Apex shines is the 1 to 1 1/2 foot bumps and on the groomed trails. The thing about the rev is it's no fun to ride one when it's not bumpy.

the biggest advantage to the Apex is the Motor. The Apex, Rx-1 and Vector have the best power plants on the market bar none.

So if your looking to ride in 2 to 4 foot Moguls all day by a rev.

Thanks guys for all the input. As of today I am a owner of a new Apex GT. I was definately on the fence last week so input really helped. All we need is some snow! Will let you all now how I like as soon as I get to whip it!
