Can anyone explain why the 06-10 apex exhaust sounds different then an rx1 exhaust? From my experience, the rx1 has a deeper sound and the apex has a more raspy sound. Is it cause the apex uses a titanium system and the rx1 uses a stainless system? Would installing a complete factory stainless rx1 header/y- pipe and exhaust make an apex sound more like an rx1 and give it that deeper tone? Thanks

The 05 RX used Titainium as did the 06 and 07 Apex somewhere after that Yamaha switched the Apex to stainless because titainium is brittle and very expensive to replace. So the answer is no! RX and Apex are different and because of that sound different. EFI vs carbs is one biggy and different cams and timing is another.

As for your 2011 the whole exhaust is different from front to back and nothing pre 2011 will fit it. Pipe diameter is larger has an EXUP valve and inline exhaust muffler rather then crosswise like the RX or Apex. Hopefully they will come out with a stainless replacement soon but the sound will be the same if it has an exup valve a bit different without the EXUP.
