This sled ran 163.636 mph in 1000' @ 803 pounds and 29 pounds of boost @ NSSR speed run event in Chetek, WI. 560,3 hp . The old Vmax engine is a marvel for mods. Quality engine I say.

4x4 said:The reputation of the Vmax4 front suspension is solely due to the size of the ads run in the 1990's compared to the trailing arm companies. The V4 struts were set up to maintain control at high speed, and in this regard may have been the last time Yamaha shocks were set up properly.
My VX800 front end handles rough and bumps better than the several trailing arm suspensions I have and had and as well as the A arms of my late model sleds. The thing I like best about the "pogo" is it will survive without damage a heck of a hit that will crumple a newer version front end - well tested by millions of dirt bikes.

I owned 2 good running SRX's and I think the SRX would win especially on the top end. The 11 Apex probably would be close but no reports on gps speeds of them yet. I do know the 11 Apex is faster than my well tuned 06 though.
I dont think my 01 SRX was as quick as my 06 Apex is. Perhaps if the SRX had the better weight transfer of an Apex. As for top speed I would say SRX.

I had a very good running 98 srx, ported and it wasn't as quick as my stock 800 vmax, grass dragged both etc. Also had an 06 with same mods as one mentioned and it was definitely quicker and faster than the srx. I would like to see the vmax with quads run an apex with a yamaha charger or one with hindle pipe and hurricane head mod, that would be close, still would put my money on the vmax, lighter and more hp.
When I run my buddies Apex with my SRX he gets me off the line, pulls almost 20 feet and holds that well into the 100's.Both are lightly modded.Dead even other than start which Apex almost always wins. You guys remember NosPro on Pinks? His Nitrous Apex beat the V-Max4.I believe he still has both sleds.

On pinks the rx1 had a ashpalt skid and the vmax has the stock one. Rx1 didn't have stock skid. With nos he was probably around 200hp.
Yea but they raced and he lost his Vmax.Races are almost never equal thats why there is usually a winner!
