No Offence, but Welt's sled is not the norm. Most will run 110-112GPS on a groomed trail.

nate007 said:so you're telling us stoutner that at 85mph, the 800r pulled the skis that high in the air? I really doubt that you got that much. I've ridden alot of really fast sleds, but unless the setup was wwwwaaaaaayyyyyy off, theres no way you would do that?? A few inches, maybe...
Nate,
It wasn't so much the power of the sled. It is really weird but when i was racing down the lake, I could stand on the back and kind of bounce all of my weight (240 lbs) and the skis would come off the ground about a foot.
It seemed like a combination of the front end being very light and almost "catching air" when it came up. The sled is so front end light that it will do this.

This is my is my 1st 4 stroke, had a viper before that, only thing I've done is clutch kit. I have no top end, I'm guessing around 105 but it very quick out of the hole so I dont know if I want to start messing around with the clutch and risk loosing that hole shot. I did ride a demo 800R last spring and I know my apex would have never stayed with that one. My buddy ordered one sight unseen after I told him about my test ride last spring and after reading all magazine hype in the fall he and I thought it would be no contest. One mag was saying the apex would do about 110 out of the box and the 800R would do 120 all day long so the top end of the 800 is a shock also. Im sure the speed and quickness of the 800 is bottled up in there somewhere. One thing BRP can't change is the laws of physics which obviously favors the 800.

Well there the viper is a good selection after mods for some very good running, all around great twisty trail tamer,my bud who has the apex gt sold his 02 viper last week, but before that we took a little blast around crappy small trails, and in the very tight trails,as good as this new doo,is it was difficult to stay right on his bumper, when the trail opened up a little i could reel him in,but the viper is all stock, and that means 111-115 hp no match for 150 hp,but it had my USIx2 skis i traded him on,and that certainely helped it turn better in the soft snow, what year apex do you owne right now,th 08's may even be stronger than my 06 and 07.RTXs said:This is my is my 1st 4 stroke, had a viper before that, only thing I've done is clutch kit.
