2013 stock Apex XTX trail riding, mostly very hardpack conditions.
Oem ripsaw track, studded up the middle.
Currently all stock clutching.
Exup is adjusted and working well, sled is well tuned, fresh plugs and only 5000km on it. Fresh oem belt and sheaves/belt are clean.
Skid is running white oem slides, extra wheels and in spec for sag.
Runs at just shy of 11000 initial flash rpm and settles into ~10300rpm on full pulls.
Very happy with the stock clutching EXCEPT for top end.
The sled doesn't seem to want to shift out.
I have read and been told about secondary coil bind and the oem helix not fully shifting out??
The oem sec spring coil binds when fully compressed??
Is the Dalton red sec spring a good go? I am told it is thinner wire but slightly stiffer side load and the same finish rate as oem so wont coil bind and a lil better belt grip? All good and no loss??
Can the oem helix be machined for full shift out? Does the sec sheave need to machined as well or just the helix?
Not interested in a full clutch kit as I don't believe a stock apex needs it.....but it def needs help fully shifting out on top end.
Thanks

What is your top speed?
If you are seeing around 178kph [111mph] on hard pack you are good.

Seeing 170~175kmh on hard snow trails and best I've seen it creep to on a road was 183kmh.
These are speedo indicated.
Pretty sure the sled is capable of a lil faster .....it feels like it is hitting a wall and the motor is pulling....but not shifting out.
Magic marker stripe on the primary leaves just under a 1/4in left.
It def isn't outa gear with oem gearing.
Am I expecting too much? The motor is strong. I was under the impression the xtx skid would allow a lil better legs than the shorty too??
Last yr was my 1st Apex so no comparison.

111 mph on Radar. 178 kph. 2013 Apex SE
109 for my 2011 Apex SE I sold a friend.
106 MPH for a 2006 Attak
99 MPH for a 2014 1200 Doo
Groomed trail fairly hard packed.
All on Radar. [Bushnell Radar gun]
This was same day right after each other. Probably 1,000 feet.

Id say there is a little left. See my post above.
IMHO you should see 180 kph in a 1,000 feet to 1/4 mile on reasonably hard snow based on my experience .
RPM Shifted out? I'm pulling 10,700 + .

I agree you should be able to pull 10,7 10,9 to get full top end. hard to do with stock weights on anything less then prime conditions.

What I would do is buy new clutch springs and install. While into the clutches, check weights, rollers , bushings and pucks for wear.
