I don't know how legit this website is, but the drawings seem like they actually come from the manufacturer and not just AI click bait. Anyone see these anywhere else? If it's true it does look like Arctic Cat is working at modifying the Catalyst chassis to fit a 4 stroke turbo. What engine who knows, but it's a triple. Anyhow, I just thought this might create an interesting discussion.

I think A/C had already been thinking of a four stroke for this chassis from the beginning. Judging from I heard from some engineers at the New Hampshire grass event when the Catalyst came out, they already had some designs worked out.
I believe the unwillingness of Textron to spend on development of their products greatly handcuffed the whole operation. It set them back years.
It would be interesting to know how many good ideas were killed off by Textron.

If they threw the 998 in that chassis I would be all over it!

Does not look like the 998cc yammy to me, heres why oil filter on oppiside of motor and intake runners on oppiside of engine and oil pan is diffrent, i believe a inhouse motor from cat, and this is probably what push turbo's was working with cat on a few years ago already?? Just my 2 cents worth...time will tell.

They need a turbo motor for their sxs too. Hopefully, whatever they come up with has at least 200 ponies.

Oh you know its coming! Just a matter of when. I'd wager 240 HP right outta the box knowing how Cat works. It will be their own engine. If it has EPS, I may just have to have one more new sled before I give it up, if the price is right of course.

Current thundercat 22-23k? My guess is if it does happen it will cost north of that after tune up and mods even more. Hope it happens but I’ll have to wait a few years and get a used one if I’m not too old and crusty to ride by that time lol

Manufactures today have no choice than to keep their customers or potential customers thinking that their newest designs are the latest and greatest cause that sells units . I would argue without doing this they would not survive.. So that being said, look for the big three to continue to evolve and give their customers exactly what they are looking for …And the hard part is that these new designs will have to be improved and better than the old ones and thats easier said than done . Hope these new designs are exactly that a improvement worth the money spent..This is what keeps me interested in the sport..

The aftermarket turbo kits for the Wildcat XX is pretty strong. The local cat dealer here has done plenty pushing way over 200-300hp on pump gas. As we all know, the 998 can take boost like a freak.

The fact that cat chose to not release it as a factory option was 100% Textron's fault.

I do believe AC is in development of their own four stroke at this time. Nobody should be surprised if their engine plant starts churning something out possibly for 2028

I really liked the individual throttle bodies, but it appears they won't be using that if those pics are correct.
I don't care if it isn't a Yamaha engine, as long as it is durable.
Hopefully it's an eleven or twelve hundred cc displacement.
250hp stock would be great!

My hope would be they have a real tuner & proper engineer to develop the ignition and fuel systems. Cat really botched that on the Viper 1050 engine compared to the Yamaha engineers. That 1050 was rough around the edges for ECU parameters, running performance and super slow too. Wuffffffff.

BRP has a 999cc. 3-cylinder in their SXS that is already and easy 240 HP and drives a 7 speed dual clutch transmission, it runs in summer heat, so it has a very wide power band driving that geared transmission to boot. Kawasaki has a 4-cylinder 999cc. SXS Teryx H2 SXS that is 250 HP. The Bike version of that 999cc.4-cylinder H2R supercharged engine is 322 HP. That right there is all Cat needs to know! a 1000 CC triple in a snowmobile in cold weather ought to be making min. 260 HP..... That would be a fun bone stock sled for sure.

Honestly looking these drawings up top, it looks like a BRP four stroke other than the oil filter setup on there. BRP uses a different oil filter housing, not a spin on filter. Doesn't look like a Yamaha 998 that is for certain.
