I'd imagine they'll do the same old thing too. Bet the chaincase and front drive issues never get addressed either. All the Cat problems are right there from the chaincase down to the front drive, easy fixes at the factory level, but no they just do the same damn stupid thing, year after year.
I really like that orange RIOT Cat has for 2021. Wished that you could get a turbo in those colors. Maybe Doo will up the ante next season and fix the 900t? Lets see what happens. You'd think Polaris would see the sales being lost for us four-stroke lovers.
I hope POO jumps in the 4s game too, I think it would be great to have another choice for us.
Dont think any 4s DOO will ever give us what we want(power wise) until BRP feels the need. For now all that goes into their 850s.
I think for better colors YAM Winders will have the best choices, but I still like the clutches on the tCat!

I'm kinda disappointed no new sidewinder for 2021 , as would be buying the replacement or updated sidewinder then . But if it hasn't at least improved the weak spots on the sled , why would I buy a new one ? I'm in the same position as I was with my 08 Apex that kept for 10 years

Changes since '17/'18....
-rear axle/wheels
-switch gear
-brake lever/reservoir
-electronic shocks
-heated ROV
-key on/off with push button start
-tether kill switch
-new front end/roll center
-BNG
Lots worth the upgrade there IMO.

Wish they would make the sidewinder with the yamaha side plates to keep the engine, jack shaft and drive shaft all in one box like they do on the Yamaha sleds. I bet it would cure the drivetrain issues with it and the track alignment problem.
Plates like this.

Dan, I bought the 24/50 with chain to put in my winder, I use the MaxSpool 17/19 from TD. I talked to Ben at Snowmobile Show Friday and he said don't go with 24/50 go with 22/41 even on trail sled. Before I slap the 24/50 in I thought I would ask you, do you think 24/50 would be ok even tuned at 290hp?......
Im working on a Cat RR here in my shop now, the 24/50 gear IMO looks more at home in this case and I see no upper gear bushing wear....the TEAM clutches are IMO a better overall setup. Ive rode this sled with its bone stock out of the box design, and it simply felt snappy as hell corner to corner, while my winder felt doggy corner to corner and needed a early spool tune to get it comparable to the cat gear/clutch combo for snappiness.

24/50 gearing is a waste , way to much gear reduction for 290 hp. You’ll be maxed out on the clutches at 108 mph. That’s gearing suited for a 130hp machine.

I run stock 9 tooth drivers and 24/41
If you ride Michigan trails fast this is an awsome gearing to have.
Equal to the 22/38 gears many use, but it will get the chain away from rubbing the center post.

24/50 is low, but will still achieve about 115 mph.Dan, I bought the 24/50 with chain to put in my winder, I use the MaxSpool 17/19 from TD. I think when someone is considering their gearing they need to ask what kind of riding do I do, and how often am I above 110mph?

How did we get discussing gearing under the new cat thread? oops24/50 is low, but will still achieve about 115 mph.

Seriously tho the acceleration with that gearing will be considerably less at anything above 70 mph. The only time I would even consider that gear ratio is in super tight twister trails.
UP riding it’s much slower, you might not think so but it’s true. Read Ben’s post.

Where do you ride? Muskoka corner to corner it would be a hoot, need LOTS of traction for sure! I would even consider a storm 1.5 track(super hard lug) and long studs.Dan, I bought the 24/50 with chain to put in my winder, I use the MaxSpool 17/19 from TD. 118GPS is max with that gearing, so for most tight trails guys that is plenty, so depends what you want.
What i was getting at in other posts about the cat gearing, is how well it works STOCK TUNED corner to corner vs a STOCK tuned Winder corner to corner.
Otherwise, id buy a 49 from Speedwerx and go 24/49 or 24/48 for a happy medium.

I ride Muskoka type trails on my weekly rides, Muskoka/Bancroft/Haliburton/etc. And I ride quick where I can. But I do several trips to Northern Ontario when I put on most of my miles on big trails riding fast but really never trying to go top speed. Acceleration is what I want but I don't want it to be too much and spin too much. Right now I have the stock 21/41 with chain and new 24/50 with new chain, hoping I can make something work. Ben said 22/41 but I know Dan you thought that gave you some issues.

22/41 works great on Northern Ontario trails. I really don't think you give up anything down low. Plus I believe it to be better on belts as your not running in overdrive all the time.

One thing to keep in mind when comparing cat vs Yamaha gearing is that the cat team primary has a larger shaft due to the bearing they run, which results in a higher starting ratio, and due to a longer associated belt, a lower ending ratio. So 24/50 with cat clutches is not the same as 24/50 with Yamaha clutches. Elsewhere on here I posted some math. Food for thought...

Somewhat true but not really. The secondary is also larger so the starting ratio is really the same.
The wider belt allows for a larger range of travel and more overdrive, not to mention increased strength. The Cat clutches are designed to run deeper into overdrive than the Yamaha clutches, that’s why the 24/50 gears can work.
The Cat clutch setup is really awsome, the more I look at it the more I like it!
