im thinkin about extending my attak to a 144... just wondering if i would have to extend my tunnel and change anything else..

also whats the biggest track i can get to fit... thinking of going with extrovert drivers also.. whats your guys opinion of track and drivers?

i do a lot of off trail power line riding in the powder...some trail riding also...

thanks for any info

I went from 121 - 144 tunnell and rails on the mono. Changed to 9th wahl bros extros. 1.25 pred. but for the powder you might want to consider the cobra if you still want to dabble on the trails a bit. Should give you plenty of hook-up off trail without sacrificing too much up top on the trails/lakes.

On Ulmers site it says you do not need a tunnel extension for the 136"-144" rail extensions.

One thing you might want to consider is setting your 136" skid back 4" in your tunnel which gives you your 144". Saves you on rail extensions and also decreases your angle of approach where your track hits the snow in the front. The shallower AOA will help your sled climb ontop of the powder better as opposed to trenching like your doing now.

As for a track, the 144" fully clipped Cobra would be my choice.

I am doing the same extension (once my new business and baby allow me some garage time) and this is what I am doing:

My stock 136" mono, set back 4" and down 1/4" to provide a 144" footprint with some added tunnel clearance. 144 x 15 x 1.325" Cobra w 4-2-4 stud pattern with 1.450" Woody Golddiggers. I will be changing to 9T extro's and dropping to a 22 tooth top gear.

I also added a set of Simmons flex skis for great trail handling and off trail floatation. I think this will be the perfect sled for my trail/off-trail/poleline riding I do. ;)!

I think Ulmer said to be careful on setting your skids back on the Apex sleds, as it created an unruly handling sled in some cases. I think 136-144 can be successfully accomplished with rail extensions. 121 to 144 starts to create geometry problems.

neighbor stretched his Attak to 144 with rail extensions from tracksusa......did NOT need tunnel extension.

i stretched my Apex from a 121 to 144 using rail extensions and a Cat rear skid (long story).....now the skid is too stiff I hafta add softer springs.

I have had no handling cases I love how the sled rides. If you do it right it fixes alot of the apex crap. You have to ride one to see.
