I have added both marginal snow wheel kits to my Attak. Mount and wheel kit for front of skid has been rock solid and works great. However, the mount for the middle of skid, (SMA-8FT95-00-00) seems to break easily. The kit does work great and prevents slider wear when they are there but they tend break and fall off. At $80/kit it gets expensive to replace all the time.

Has anyone found or made a better setup for the Attak / LTX to prevent slider wear in the middle of the skid? I don't think Yamaha even makes the above PN anymore.

Any help or pics would be much appreciated

Hmmmm....I've had the marginal snow kit on the middle of my LTX GT skid since I bought the machine and 8000 miles later still no problems with those wheels/brackets. What exactly is breaking for you? The wheel itself?

no it is the mounting bracket with all the "positioning" countersunk holes. It cracks below the two flat head screws.

Yea I had them and took them off.. they didn't do much to help the hyfax any way....Ice scratchers are the big help for me. Use them often.

I'll have to double check mine and make sure they are ok. I think though if you are concerned with hyfax wear, use pioneers wheel lowering kit along with DuPont sliders and call it a day.

I have the larger wheels (roughly the same as the lowering kit) but still seem to get more wear in the large gap in middle of skid. I think I will try the scratchers like CaptCaper suggested.

Use the cable scratchers. I have the RSI wire ones and they work but I installed a pair of cables on a friends Attak and they are real nice I rode behind him and got a good look at how they throw snow. Mount them at the bolt were the arrow is in the picture. Drill the hole slightly larger to 3/8 in. Use a grade 8 bolt long enough clear the rails and into the threaded cable mount. Use blue loctite. Before tightening check to see they hang up on the rail and while there they don't hit the track. When down they will ride higher not hitting the track.
You can back up and they don't break. Mine break after a while and can't back up. When mine break I will be getting a set of cables.
