New member here trying to decide...

So I am considering either an Attak GT or Nitro ER. I currently ride an 04 Polaris Edge Touring 600. Came off a Polaris Triumph (gen 2 XLT) and a Wildcat before. Absolutley hate 2 strokes and always have, even in my dirt bikes. I reciently rode every model Yamaha, (Rage, Vector, Phazer, Nitro, Apex GT and RTX, Attak, Venture) Polaris FST switchback and classic, and the new Cat Jag. The FST is slow and feels very heavy, plus it feels like riding an oven. The cat is typical cat, feels like riding a 55 gallon barel down the trail and is gutless above 50mph. I Absoulutly LOVE the long track ride quality, bite off the line and braking, so that is why I am considering an Attak. I dont need 150hp as 99% of my riding is narrow, bumpy Vermont trails and I would almost never get a chance to wind it up. I wanted a Rage (for the long track) until I rode the Attak and Nitro, I like the seating position 100% more. The 3 things that bother me about the Nitro are the lack of fuel injection (the only 4 stroke on the market with carbs) the seeming lack of a fat boy spring for the rear (?) and the short track. The things that bother me about the Attak are the fact that there seems to be alot more issues (from what I read in the two groups) with the sled than the nitro and the price difference. I read a post about a 128" conversion that certainly seems cheaper than going to the Attak, so that got my attention, but I worry about aftermarket stuff like that and is 128" enough?. I also really like the push button shock and clickers on the ATTAK GT. The air shocks concern me in a longevety standpoint they are not as qucik to adjust (hey boys wait up I need to air up my shocks!) and they are not cheap either, (but niether is that electric Ohlins!) I would love some thoughts as my time is running out to spring order! I am what I would consider a 7 out or 10 on the agressive scale, and most of my crew has a hard time keeping up (RX1, 2 REV's, Polaris 550 touring, Edge X 600, ledgend 500). Any constructive comments are greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Seamus

well i love my attak. not a single issue (850 miles)except my pinkies get cold. rear wheels and hifax look like new, gas mileage is about 16 vs. my polaris 700 twin at 11 (tuned very well too!) i think the more rider forward seating is the biggest plus on the attak vs. the rage. price isnt too far off if you shop around. i paid $8,500 and feel its worth every penny!

Had the same dilemma...attak/Nitro. Fuel injection sold me, but now I'm glad I went with the power and the track. Paid 13,000. Experienced several problems at first, but in hindsight allmost every problem with these machines is rooted in the terrible setup out of the crate (regardless of rider weight). I haven't heard anyone mention this. So I'll be the first. Get that suspension set up properly and this board would be void of complaints. Diving, weak a-arms, poor floatation, trenching, low top end, darting, poor flight characteristics, cold hand warmers...Just kidding.

Got 65 miles on a tankfull today. That's been the norm. What is that? About 7 or 8 miles to the gallon??? Who Cares?

Get the Attak.

i have an attack and my wife has a nytro so i've ridden both, in all types of conditions.both need to be set up properly in order to be enjoyed.i prefer the fuel injection and the long track.my attack has 2600 miles and i have not had any problems, and have gotten 120 miles to a tank of gas.yes there is more power than you need but it,s nice to have when you get to a straight -away

:yam:

besides seating position I would thinkthe 3 cylinder has better MPG than the 4 cylinder.

I prefer the Apex/Attack over the 3 cylinder due to the seating position and power. I get 15 +/-mpg with our sleds and I hear of plenty getting 17 + withthe 3cylinder

i get 15 or 16 with my attak. i love this sled and have had only a couple minor issues. love the power and just about everything else this sled has to offer.
