I was NEVER cold in my old Yamaha gear, then I got COLD WAVE coat that was layered and breathable. I now read that last as NOT WIND PROOF and you will freeze, I liked my old 'non breathable ' truly wind proof coats much better.. I hate that coat on cold days, lots of vents on warm days and is OK
I have a good couple of sets of bibs one gortex and one wanna - be there is a difference
I have a Good HJC 12 Electric shield and frooze my eyelids shut with the short wind sheild last year on a 10 below night, the wind hit me in the chest and went up through my helmet and made my eyes water. That wind sheild has got to go.
I plan on buying the low shield with the lip. IF still cold than the 14.25 mediums.

I picked up a pair of the Venture Lite mirrors, but decided the brace wasn't robust enough. The problem is the brace can rotate fairly easily.
I just ordered a pair of universal handlebar mount mirror brackets from Royal Distributing (part #s A12-0928120 and A12-28125 - one is LH thread). These mount solidly to the handle bars and the Venture Lite mirrors mount to them (order the mirrors separately - they are much cheaper than the kit).
Thanks for the info on the mirrors. My dealer has some Phazer mirrors ordered, and we are going to try them with Bombardier atv handlebar mounts. The hole on them is offset a little forward, so the bracket and mirrors aren't in the way of the parking brake.

That's something I missed. I just checked my sled and the Royal Distributing brackets will have to be moved inwards quite a bit to miss the parking brake lever.
One problem with the Bombardier ATV mounts is they are probably right hand thread only. The right side Phazer mirror has left hand threads.
We should really be discussing this here though...maybe a moderator can move this over...

If you look at some of the pictures in the above thread some guys have made the universal mounts work by slightly rotating the brake lever.

--what kind of coats, shirts, etc are you wearing? I've never had anything but a low windshield and never get cold. IMHO the key is- you get what you pay for.
A good quality full face helmet with electric shield, add a good Gore Tex (or similar type) coat (wind/waterproof) - then dress in layers depending on how cold it is. I always wear long underware only under the Gore Tex bibs (no jeans = very comfy) and a "long underware top," add a long sleave t-shirt and/or sweater or fleece depending on temps. Black long underware from Cabelas, great stuff, different weights (thickness) for different temps. They call us "men in black." After spending $10 g's for a cool looking sled, I could never ruin the "look" by adding a dorky looking TALL windshield --with brackets no less...
Bring your low shield to the Magpie Resivior in Wawa CA. when it's -10 to -20.....I bet you would give just about anything for a taller shield before making the run!
But seriously, I too use the tall shield.....not because I'm freezing....but to help on the colder days and for long runs......as previously posted. I had the sleds with the low windshields too............many years ago! When you get older.......comfort will take pressident!

The sleds look sweet, but I wish they were more like the cats...don’t hit me too hard...my bud has an m6 and the whole hood is shaped to protect you form the wind. Its a hell of a lot warmer than my attak and still has the low windscreen look

Handlebar mirror guys. The parking brake lever can be trimmed shorter to accomadate handlebar mirror mount on the left side.
