I have a 07 Apex GT which comes with a low windshield. I love the graphics and how it looks but the wind protection is really bad on cold days. The cold air hits me in the chest and face and my hands are exposed to the cold. I am looking to upgrade windshields and have heard many different stories on what windshields are available. I know if I get the tall or extra tall windshield from Yamaha I need the support bars.
I have heard that Cobra makes 16 and 18.5 inch windshields that are supposed to be stiff enough without support brackets.
Does anyone have experience with the 16" windshield? Is this high enough to give decent protection? I don't want to go any higher then I need to in order to get decent protection.
I don't want the sled to look like an old mans sled even though I am getting to the stage in my life.

I am the same way, I just bought the 16" one, looks good on the machine. It is a little narrower at the handle bars, it might be colder on the hands. Hopefully I will get a chance to try it out on a long ride this weekend. Dave
