I'm looking at putting some auxiliary lighting on my MTX. Does anybody know how much "extra" power I have to work with before overloading the stator? I'm only looking at around 30-55watts.

You should be OK but LEDs would probably be sure to be fine. The engine/stator is the same as in the Venture Lite/MP, which has rear hand warmers. To improve lighting and free up some watts, I have HIDs for the headlights. Way brighter and less load (35w vs. 55/65W each)

I've mounted an 8" led light bar on the top of my headlight cover. Also have 8k hids with regular high beams built in. I'm running the light bar right off the high beam circuit so when I hit the high beams both the high beams and bar come on. I also have a usb charger for my phone hooked up and a heated shield. Thinking about adding some led glow on a switch but pretty sure I'm over loaded or damn sure close to it already. Granted some of these things won't all be used at the same time either.

From what I remember, there is only 50-60w to spare. The auxiliary plug has a 3 amp fuse so that is ~40w right there. Running 35w hids in the head lights would free up some wattage. I'm looking to mount a pair of 18w Chinese "rigid knockoffs" floods on my handlebars for this winter for night time boondocking use.
